British GT Championship

Post by duggiesmith » Mon Jun 08, 2009 10:47 pm

Anyone heading along to the British GT Championships at KH this weekend?

I've not been for a couple of years, but it used to be great day out. I'll be heading along on Sat.

You also get free entry to the F1 stock cars in the evening. I've only ever seen this at Cowdenbeath where they race round a concrete oval - total carnage  Unfortunately no concrete walls at KH, but should still see plenty of contact :D

I'll be going to this both days!! 8)
Was there last year and was the best motorsport event I have witnessed at Knockhill. In my opinion wipes the floor with the touring cars.
Serious cars, getting a serious ragging round the track. Each race is an hour long so you gets ya moneys worth!
Timetable of this weekends events is here:

Must be a good 5 - 6 years since I was last there.. (I over dosed a wee bit on spectating for a few years, and have not been back much since... )

Yeah, I'll definately be there. I'd agree that its probably the best meeting of the year at Knockhill. Can't make Saturday but I'll be there from early morning on Sunday. (as I only live about 4 miles from Knockhill I have no excuses for being late) :)
Looking for my first Lotus :)

I was up at a tracknight last night and the teams were out testing before the session commenced, went over and had a nosey in and around some of the cars while letting the 944 cool down - the vipers are simply awesome, so big its a wonder anyone can get past them at knockhill!

Will try and head up for saturday :)

Have a great Holiday! Let me know what you think of F'tura as we're off to Tenerife later in the year and are considering some Island hopping. :thumbsup

Weather wise today would have been perfect but in true Knockhill fashion both Sat and Sun look pants with either rain or heavy rain. Mind you a good Gortex jacket and a pair of wellies should sort that and it will make for some very interesting on track and off track action :D

I was intending to go up tomorrow morning, but that may well be weather dependent. I think the forecast is showery so that could mean absolutely anything at KH! I'll probably take the ginger civic as it is a little better at ascending the grassy slopes of the far side KH car park :)

I wish I could but it's my wee fella's 7th birthday and he's not up for going no matter how much I bribe him with Toys R us and computer games... :( I love the GT's but think it's been about 7 years since I was last there too... and tomorrow is the birthday party so a full weekend booked up for me  Next year maybe...

I would like to watch them live, but cannot be assed with the journey. The F430's were running 1st and 2nd for the first half of the race, last time I watched they were behind the big boys, but a Ginetta won both races.

One F430 went up in flames in a big way.
