i have found a very useful resource here at work, the paintshop have a Plastic Media Strip machine (Bead blaster) that doesn't harm Ali.
If anyone has anything that wants bead blasting (Your manky shocks Shug?) up to about engine block size and weight I can ask nicely for you. My engine head cost me 8 cans of Stella (£9.60 + Free Doritos) and was done inside half an hour.

I can do the same sort of job on the west coast if its more handy for anyone, same sort of size, but there's usually not a charge

We've both grit blasting and Plastic media.
Can have any colour you want as long as its spinner cone black

Cant remember wether you said it was the RAF or Navy you said you were in? I was working with an ex-navy Sea king mechanic today.

It cleans stuff the easy way, and with plastic media does no harm to alloy components.
A blaster is basically a big cabinet with a hose that shoots a grit/air mix to strip off surface coatings.

RAF, hence the Stella, if I was navy it would be probably be Rum (or something) The army would want prety beads or a shiney pebble in trade
(Not really, Crab Air have the greatet respect for the Fishheads and Pongos!)
Think sand blast but a bit softer so not as destructive. Like tut's front clam but (A bit) faster

If I can get them off.

I might have a bead blasting job which I’d be delighted to pay for with a case or two of the continental fighting lager.
Among my many projects, none of which ever seem to make much progress but keep amused, is a Ford V6 Essex (TVR, Carpri, Scimitar) powered jet speedboat. The jet system is cast Ali and needs stripping back to the metal.
Think you can help me out?

Only if you tell me how to get the front ones off

I'm not for damaging mine 'till someone else has.
The only hold up just now is that i only really do this stuff on nights + backshift; i'm early shift next week (too many bosses) then off for a fortnight

I could do them at the weekend though, but i'd be getting them through here. I'll see my brother, whose at uni in edinburgh, and ask when he'll be home next.

I'll ask tonight. Shouldn't be a problem, but will cost Lager to do here. I'm off for 2 weeks (w*rk!) in a weeks time too. Thoses rear grills need powder coating, my hammerite effort lasted about 2 weeks!
Anyone work for a powder coating firm?
