Scottish Elises

Just thought I'd mention this, but apparently the new gaffer at Lotus is talking about bringing out stripped out versions of the Elise later in the year, to get the weight down......has to be a good sign

Apparently Lotus currently has about 6-700 unsold Elise and Exiges in the US, hence the reduction in production at Hethel, and the new limit on the number of vehicles they can get hold of.

Sorry if this is old news for anyone, but a more light weight model would certainly have me thinking

Is that not just the new 140bhp yota basic elise that we've heard about....

No, there was a hint of making them lighter and more track focused!

Supposedly they are cutting back a little on production to halt the over supply. Rumour is that a 140bhp 'yota engined car will be out very soon for around £24k. However, even if it is stripped out, it's unlikely to weigh less than any of the K engined cars as, from what I've read on selcoc anyway, the engine still weighs more.

How can they make it any lighter?
They can't ditch the ABS and the 'yota engine is heavier than the K so where are they going to lose weight?

I heard something along those lines too. I guess there's no real chance of them using lighter components like carbon fibre or anything?

... how about stripping out the MIL lights too to make them lighter.....
