Got an email through from Mr Robertson at MMC about some ride & drive events:
We've got another Ride and Drive event for Evora near Aberdeen this
Monday 2nd November (Milton Restaurant at Crathes, just off A93) with four Evoras up and factory support, with the same setup just west of Glasgow on
Tuesday 3rd November at Gleddoch House near Langbank. Both are by appointment only, with test drives from 9am-5pm, but if anyone who's interested in experiencing Evora wants to come along, please can they email me at
grobertson@jmgroup.co.uk for a test drive time? Cheers
So one near Glasgow and one near Aberdeen - pop him an email if you're interested

Why an Evora over a GTR?
Because it's a Datsun and it has a sh*tter warrenty than that new black exige's paintjob.
Although I am assuming it is the Datsun your talking about and not the Mazda Familia GTR

There are more things in life than having the most toys... GTR would be pretty far down my list mate, as it's f*cking horrendous looking and utterly soulless (before you even mention the comedy warranty)...

But what's the point in being quicker if it's no more fun? Seriously, I don't believe it's about the numbers on the dials, but about the sensations coming through the controls and from what you read, this is where the GTR falls down. Bigger Numbers don't = Better Car, for me...
Horses for courses I suppose - ultimate speed isn't really the point of driving enjoyment for me (and most on here, I'd imagine, given that you can buy hot hatches 'faster' than Elises for the same money)

GTR has got to be theeee ugliest car to ponce about in. And it's surprisingly big. If I was looking for a 60k super car it wouldn't even make the list. Far better cars out there, yes it's fast but it's the car that's fast not the driver. No skill required anybody can go quick in one of them and no soul at the end of the day it's just a tricked out Datsun Cherry.

Similar to a 2-11 then
Got to say the GTR does not do it for me for the reasons Shug has posted! If i was looking for a 60k 2+2 it would have to be a 996 or 997

(that's why I think Mike will do fine, that and his lack of imagination).

I lik ethe GTR.....in the same way as I like the veyron.....both very competent cars!
If I had the cash I'd consider a GTR. Each to their own!
The evora test sounds very cool!

I'm booked in for 1.00pm on Monday so I'll hopefully get to finally meet some SE'ers. I'll hopefully have the Elise with me so I'll look out for any others.

.
The Evora looked stunning in the flesh at MMC so I'm looking forward to seeing how it drives. In response to the discussion above, the GTR just doesn't excite me at all. If it was just about the the numbers I would have bought an Impreza instead of an Elise.

"All I'm saying is the GTR would be quicker in every single driving situation when they both cost the same and are 2+2."

Still dick it apart from top speed.
