Who needs the Taliban?

Post by tut » Sat Oct 31, 2009 9:03 pm

"The Daily Telegraph said they were shot during a live firing training session.
The three are reported to have been hit by automatic fire during a platoon live firing training practice session on Onion Range, land which is used for training by the Army and located on a remote part of East Falkland island."

Monumental cock up.

Sounds like gimpy live fire. They set the depression on it then fire at a set height over their heads.

I went on a live firing with the Gurkhas in the Falklands........ handed gimpies, LSW's, 9mils and MILAN's and let loose to fire at what we wanted as long it was roughly in the same direction, then back to their barracks for a curry :thumbsup

They do, they were attached to us in Borneo, but were not allowed to cook currys in the jungle when we were out on patrol because of the smell.

They made up for it though when we got back to base camp. Our Pakistani cooks in the Mess in Oman were a similar standard so I ate well for many years.

Even at Army Cadets we used to fire wooden bulletes ( @ Cultybraggan) which seemed to split at the end of the gun.....not that dangerous but could easily blind you ! Unless it was a myth they fed us ?!

:D I did some Culty trips too. The wooden rounds were for the Bren were they not?

Sad to hear about the training mishap. :(

To say it is authentic is an understatement. Sarah asked your man to explain something on the menu, "yes lady that is curry, he then ran his finger down the menu and explained they are all "curry". She took a punt and it rocked.
