Does anyone know what the Glass's valuation is for a '99 V-reg S1 111s 41k? Had a look on their site but it doesn't list Lotus.

It will be lower than you want i`ll bet. You should look at the Pistonheads sales pages to get an idea of what its worth and send that info to the insurance company to get a better payout.

I'd give them printouts from MMC like I said on Friday. I've read on seloc of people doing that and getting the payout bumped up.

So if I were you, I'd be trying for a payout of £12-13k and see what you can get.

The engineer keeps referring to his valuation being based on the glass guide (and condition of the car) so curious to know what that is.

My old neighbour was offered about thripence ha'penny (OK actually about 300 quid) for a Legacy turbo that was nicked and followed the accepted advice:-
(OK Mr Insurance company show me where I can buy a replacement for that money. Here are some adverts of ones just like mine for sale and they are all loads more money than you are offering me). He got a couple of grand in the end, cheeky barstewards. Just look upon it as any negotiation. Get loads of adverts that support your position. Autotrader is often a good source of optimistic priced adverts.

Steve, NEVER EVER accept their first offer, or their second - as everyone has said spend some time getting adverts from Autotrader and dealers throughout the country - evidence is the only thing that will make them shift!!!!

Sorry to ask a stupid question but if it is stolen or smashed up, how do the insurers determine the condition?

I recon mine is in good nick but after an argument with a kerb / verge / hedge / field / wall itâ€™d probably be a bit scruffy looking.
