Car choice dilemma -SLC

Im needing some 3rd party input to this one as I have been racking my brains for a while and getting nowhere.
I am considering selling the evo and lauras mini in the near future and replacing with one car to be used 2-3 times a week.
criteria is the tough bit -
1. Laura is 21 soon so insurance is bit of an issue (its high on evo/scoobs or m-cars)
2. Wont be an everyday car but should be reasonably comfortable (no caterhams)
3. I will want to track it so needs to be fun and a bit special to justify me paying for it!
4. Budget is £15k-19k
Exige would be too basic and ive been there, same with the elise.
a Europa was discussed as an option... any other ideas?

Wow - They've got cheap!
Doubt the brakes would take more than a couple of laps of KH at a time, though...Whereas the Coxster wouldn't have such issues...

I'd just buy the R32 then. Would save you putting a paper bag over your head every time you drove the Beetle!

In all seriousness, my bro has a Mk5 R32 (his second one) and it's bloody fantastic.
Not sure what it'd be like as a track car mind you.

Must admit when I read the first post my first reaction was "Boxster". I have a 2.7 987 245bhp and rate it above my GT2. Supreme all round car and it tracks suprisingly well. Perfect power/performance/grip combination for day to day use my advice would be to go for a test drive you might just be suprised. I guess it depends if you value image and bragging rights above driving pleasure or not.

you might not like the coxster, but try a 987 S. Clare has one and I love it. 90% of the time its as good as the 430, and like some other cars, those that havent driven them just wont get it.
M3?
996?
968CS?
