Mobile Phone time

Me and Ann are looking to replace our phones and as I don't want to go down the apple route the HTC desire is top of the list. I wanted to stay with o2 but they want too much money for not alot.
Deals wise 3 seem to offer the best but I worry about the coverage does anyone have any experience ?
Does anyone know why mobile phone shops don't do deals anymore? I used to enjoy haggling and thought as I was buying 2 phones I would get a better deal.

looking at the htc desire myself. I am on t-mobile at the moment but have problems with coverage in some areas so was thinking of changing to vodafone. Only thing i have found is that for the htc most places want a 24 month contract.

I have resigned myself to a 24 month contract, I have always managed to get them down to a 12 month before but nobody's making deals

i was with 3 when they first started and reception was shocking, so left and went straight back to vodaphone, been with vodaphone for about 10 out of the 11 years of having a mobile.
but 3 are now saying they have more network coverage so may be better. As long as they have stopped their stupid thing of not rolling over left over minutes/texts. Vodaphone if i have a quiet month and barely use free texts/ calls then it goes onto next months yet 3 if you don't use them, they wipe it and you just get your normal amount of free text/minute.
but as i said that was maybe 5 or 6 years ago

i've been with vodafone for a while and as per usual they couldn't match other deals so i asked for my PAC code to transfer my number, 4 days later i got a call from cancelations and got an HTC Desire free, 600 mins, unlimited texts and internet (but actually 500mb fair usage) for £20 per month on an 18 month contract so i was happy

T-mobile certainly do not roll over, but they were the best deal when I took out a contract recently. The HTC was too expensive, but this Nokia does everything any of them do, brilliant screen, free GPS for all of Europe, voice dialling, good camera etc, unlimited Internet, unlimited calls to other t-mobiles, 60 International minutes, have not found anything missing yet.
Not enough minutes for you working guys, but I get more than enough with 300/300 at £15 and free phone.

Whoops, thought mine was good, but that is unbeatable. The Desire is about the best going at present if you are not an iphoner, though they rank the two as equal with the Desire a better screen with its AMOLED.
The Legend which is one behind, but has a solid aluminium case, is a beaut though if you are a flasher.

O2, 600mins 1200texts & unlimited data. £19.99 per month with no phone. Photo messages included, and you don't get charged for calling your voicemail. Sweet

! Quite why anyone would spend more than that on a mobile phone contract is beyond me

. I also don't get why we need to get a new phone every 18 months.
God I sound old

My phone is on the road out it's an N95 8gb and it's seen better days so time for an upgrade, Last time I got a good deal by chatting up the girl with the bad teeth in the shop.
This time though no girl with bad teeth just a lanky kid who handed me a leaflet saying "these are our deals" bloody useless

yeah but you forgot to add that you were chatting up the lanky kid and that's why he gave you the flyer. Bet his phone number was on the flyer
