Scottish Elises

Having been dragged into this recently (as those on FB already know)....I was looking to pick the collective SE brain.
I'm on the lookout for decent impact shorts, the concensus seems to be "forcefield pro" or "dainese".

Anyone got an opinion on this?

Did wonder about a snowboarding thread on 1st July!!

Depends how much you want to spend but probably settle for some no branded ones from one of the online discount ski stores. Would prob suggest spending more effort in getting wrist guards if just taking the sport up.

Apologies if doesnt really answer your question but unless your going off jumps n stuff youll very quickly progress to falling forward more than straight onto your bum so it may become an issue soon enough.

Mine are Pro-Tec I think they saved me a lot of pain on the last holiday but as they're the only ones I've worn I've not got much to compare them to

Various last minute arrangements, a la Scottish weather, but probably nothing hugely coordinated - for same reason.

Now, a Winter French Frolic where boards and gear are shipped out for you and everyone drives the crazy roads to get there, could be fun !

ps feckin ell Neil, I played ice hockey for 14 yrs and never had protection like that, they look scary even on the website, tell the truth i bet you had a dive just to see if it hurt

Unsure of the make of mine, but Protec and dainese are usually well recommended armour.

I agree with wrist guards, i got a pair of gloves with removable armour which is really good, but need new gloves as these are looking tatty.

Once back in scotland i'd be up for some se boarding!

I've got trousers and jacket, not got the wrist guards yet....i'm gonna buy the stuff gradually for once.
I'm only new to it all so there is plenty of falling over with the occasional backwards flip onto my bottom, which can be unpleasant!

Its off season so nowhere has them.

I got them from Granite Reef in Aberdeen. They do mail order too so its probably worth giving them a call.

Having taken up snowboarding after skiing for years it was definately the abuse your wrists take that surprised me the most especialy when you get up a little more confidence and therefore speed. Other big thing I noticed is how much more you really rely on a helmet snowboarding, Ive never had a moment on skis where I thought myself really glad of a helmet but there have been a few on the board, just with the way that you tend to fall on a board, definately the wrists and head that take the hammering.

I first started snowboarding in the early 90's. The funniest thing I've ever seen was on my first snowboarding holiday in Andorra.

We were just coming to the end of run when we saw a guy in an all-in-one suit on a board. He was obviously a skier that was trying boarding for the first time but he looked a really funny shape. We got chatting to him at the chair and it turned out that it was his second day. He been hurting so much that he'd taken a cushion from his hotel and stuffed it down the back of his suit. Top tip for DIY impact shorts!

I dont think they've ever shown it on their site. I'd use that old fashioned telephone thing
