NLC Windows Explorer Offline files

There's plenty of IT geeks on here so thought it was worthwhile asking...

In work, our team uses a shared network drive for storing data/ files for the projects we are working on.
We allocate certain folders on here to be available offline through the windows synchronisation centre...

anyway, every now and again the synchronisation gets it knickers in a twist and cannot locate the server, even though im online within the corporate domain.
Our IT dept are wanting us to stop using it.

Does anyone else use this and have similar problems or do any of you have experience working with alternative programmes that allow you to sync, etc.

Hi Ross,
I've been using Microsoft SyncToy recently instead of Windows Offline Folders... its fairly easy to configure and I've had no problems with it. Best of all its free!!

cheers John,
used that in a previous life and everything was fine until it started losing files because their file path exceeded the maximum char length.
One to watch out for.

Everyone in my work uses Offline files for their My Documents folder. Works well. Only have an issue if we change the server they sync to, but that's an easy fix. Sounds like you have network issues.

Check out Live Sync.https://sync.live.com I use it to sync files between my PCs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Live_Sync
