Well, after a lot of messing about thinking about car options - 340R, Atom, Evora, Exige, Nissan GT-R etc etc I finally got off the pot and put a deposit down on an Caterham R400 kit
Delivery to sunny Stonehaven will be during October so I plan to take my time and enjoy the build in time for Spring next year.
Just tring to finalise the spec but I'm leaning towards this colour scheme -
Opinions on colour welcome!
It's been great thinking about spec over the last few days, it's easy to get carried away though
Thanks to Gareth for putting up with my endless 'what do you think about this' emails and calls.

How about bare Carbon fibre with the bit that has the cat stickers on it in either polished or brushed aluminium?
Good luck with the build, I hope there'll be a tread with lots of pics!

A bit of everything really, short blasts out, a bit of touring and hopefully a few more track days. I came back offshore to work last year so have plenty of time to enjoy it. Also, I have a 10 year old son who's mental about cars just now so hopefully he'll get a lot out of 'helping' with the build too.
Part of me thinks R400 is a bit excessive (over R300 etc) but it will always be worth that wee bit more. Plus, the R400 has a lot of standard kit which are options on the R300.

Looking forward to the build thread

.
Neither the R300 or the R500 were around when I bought mine, but if they were I think I would still have gone with the R400 - it's the best all rounder.
Good luck with the build

David - IIRC the R500 is factory build only.
This was the case with the K series R3/4/500 range.

Wonder where you got the inspiration for that colour scheme........
Will be in touch tomorrow.

One or two of the early-adopter R500 Duratec owners managed to get theirs as kits. I don't know if this has changed as IVA testing has become more tricky with the R500.

Don't thank him, maybe now he'll know what it's like for us trying to cope with his endless "what next" questioning!

Well i have a bit of knowledge of sevens after taking mine to bits many times.
As to colour scheme if you are considering lots of track work then have a serious think about black wings as if you do remove one then you just slap on another without the hassle of painting, oh and plastic bolts on the rear wings.
