AA Warranty - advice needed urgently

Guys my AA is up for renewal as in need to make a decision tomorrow.
Now is it worth getting the warranty cover again?
I think i've got the start of a new steering rack replacement job coming up. Is this something that AA warrant covers?
I've read that people have had wheel bearing replaced under AA warranty (which i wouldnt of thought of as covered in a traditional warranty) so i wonder if a replacement steering rack would be covered too?
Thanks for any advice.
Tom

If you mean P&L then hell yes. For a bit more £80 you can cover 3 cars.

If you have one breakdown that they cant fix by the roadside then it will pay for itself for the next couple of years - its a total no brainer.
It will only cover parts which mean that you cannot drive the car though, so steering rack etc wouldnt be counted. You also hvae to be recovered first so it's a good idea to get homestart as well. Otherwise if it doesnt start one morning you're going to have to get it x miles away from your house before you can call em !

It would cover your steering rack, but only if it was a mechanical failure, it will not cover wear. Exception seems to be the battery which they will replace, but with a £25 excess and a battery at £35, not really worthwhile.
Clutch is similar, worn plates no go, CRB or broken spring no problem. Wheel bearing would be covered if it was obvious that the car could not be safely driven, would then depend on the garage diagnosis.
Regardless it is a no brainer on taking it out on a none warranted car at only £65.

Hang on, £80 for P+L. I have a problem...I don't have the documented service history, so not sure what breakdown cover to get at all.

Steering rack unlikely to be covered as they class it as wear. I also got knocked back for a shock absorber as they classed that as damage and advised I claimed on my insurance policy
I know lots of people wouldn't be without AA P&L but so far it has been a waste of time for me.

ive never been asked for a service history and have claimed twice now - although Ali was saying that they are a bit more picky on things like HGF

After more claims than I can count, including HGF, I have never been asked for a history, just the date it was last serviced. Only once have they asked me to send in a copy, and it only had to include oil and filter change.

Thats interesting. So if you service yourself, the P&L cover could be negated as you can't prove it? At the moment I write the date of the service at the top of the EP receipt for the service parts.
Don't have P&L at the mo as I do everything myself, but the HGF threat is something that makes me consider it.

I think they put it in their to cover the backs in case you turn up with a shed and try and claim for a repair that could have been prevented.
The T&C's state you need to be serviced by a VAT registered garage with permanent premises IIRC

Yes they do, the patrolman who signed me up pointed it out too, I usually do it myself but now I will have to find someone local (killie) that I can trust to do an oil and filter change.

So the true cost of P&L is the AA charge plus the annual servicing labour cost. Not so much of a deal for the DIY'er.
Ah well, at least it's now off that long list of things I'm tempted to get for the car.

It's saved me about a grand over the past two years though - that's more than enough to pay for my servicing
