Life not driving and getting back on the road....

Post by Noops » Wed Oct 20, 2010 12:33 am

It will be a fortnight tomorrow since I was clobbered and banned from driving and I have to admitt its quite hard adjusting..... I've become an instructor :shock:although I don't miss the day to day driving..I'm shocked at people driving me around... "what do I do here???, which lane etc " as I shout " eh can you slow down, STOP, Go....Do what you want I've shut my eyes  .......remember I don't speed through 30mph's even in the 160...

If I'm not involved in some sort of driving incedent over the next year, it will be intervention from the above that saves me ...... Not driving has its advantages... I can have a few beers and not worry about tomorrow....

I have done at least 10 hazard perseption tests which I scored 5/5 bla bla....and as many theori tests and without looking at a book or tinternet I'm fine for an old cnut....the first I managed 43 out of 50 just off the top of my head then down to 33 then up to 48 /50.., so I must have been paying attention over the last 26 years on the road...

Just think next year at this time I will be getting my provisional oh and L plates.. fab...........

If I diden't laugh I;d cry......

Yup - don't be tempted there are too many people who won't hesitate to shop you - have seen it happen several times and the penalty is normally an extra 2-3 years ban with the risk of a short bed and breakfast stay at HMP.
(I'm not suggesting you would jump behind the wheel btw)
I can't imagine how torturous it must be to not be able to drive for so long and I surmise from your posts you're not finding it easy. Chin up - once you get your head round it the time will hopefully fly in.

Feel for you noops, it does get easier mate.
Im at 137.41 days to go !
I did calm the driving right down before my ban and I suppose for that reason alone it has served its purpose.
The main thing Im finding though is you seem to notice how bad the driving standards are in general
I can even imagine the amount of times I say how do they have a licence and I bloody dont, but the fact of the matter is most people only get away with driving fast/carelessly etc. for so long.
Myself included :(

Must confess that when I was young and stoopid I was removed from the road for 18 months.
Back then I had only had my licence for about 3 years and had just got used to the freedom that having a car and a licence brought. Thankfully no harm done and a lesson well learned... but it seemed like an eternity.

I have no intention of driving unless I'm entitiled too, Yes of coarse its hard it would be stupid to think other wise.... I'm someone who drives and has driven since I was 12...., how could I not find it hard .... Looking at my 160 is like lusting over a 22 year old with legs up to the armpits with boobs you use as pillows etc.. not being able to drive is  as an older and much more experianced driver having to put up with unexperianced driving bordering on :? ...... is degrading..to put up with.

That said I have a rather fantastic situation and I'm bloody lucky that I'm where I am. Had I been working for a company I would have been sacked, with all that might intail..etc.

However ,even without a licance I still call the shots NP jr HAS stepped farward and with his help I can and do carry on...... Thats why I'm not dispondent, so the sheriff and the police have not beat me this way :thumbsup .The 160 will be away shortly.....nothing i can do about that AND as I can't drive any more it its no big loss and someone else will have some fun out of her..

I'm going to work like hell over the next year.....and get back on the road. However I have desided I will not be in a LOTUS on my return ,I'm allready looking at something roofless and quick , sorry it will be well kept under wraps untill I'm back on the road

Neil

With the re-sit, you have to pass the theory test first before taking the extended driving test so it will be more like 13 months ban before you get your freedom back. I've heard the first time pass rate for the extended test is quite low..... I took two driving lessons with a local instructor who has done a few extended tests beforehand (just for a refresh).

Do what I did and drive the Loti at KH during your ban :thumbsup

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Not sure you're allowed to participate in TDs without a licence? :?

John Stewart always asks to see your photo section...
