, and as I have read some of you are just back (FF). What should I do, and or, what do I need, to convert the headlight beam for driving on the left. 53 S2 BTW.

There are little levers behind the clusters that can be switched. I think access is through the wheel arch, there are details of it in the owners manual but mine was destroyed so can't consult it....
Think there may have been a thread on this before though?

Three screws in the wheelarch releases the cover for the lights then there is a lever to flip over to convert (not a true conversion, just blanks the rhs of the dip beam).
I've done a few trips and personally never bothered.
The lights are pretty poor and probably not as dazzling to Mr Frog than your average properly adjusted Audi with HID/Xenon/Mega-candlepower...
Cheers,
Ali

Yeah, don't bother.
The funniest light conversion I have ever seen was on the Lotus factory entered car for Stelvio 99 - it was a really early chassis number, BTW, something like 2 or 3 IRC. Anyway, by 99 it had been converted to a VVC-spec car and so had headlamp covers.
The smallest piece of black leccy tape had been placed on each light cover, strangely reminiscent of this:

(tip, look under Ted's nose - that's a bit of tape stuck to the window - what makes it funnier is the knowledge that a whole crowd of japanese tourists are standing outside, and Ted thinks he's waving at them
