Anyone own an Oris watch (NLC)

Post by Gareth » Fri Jul 21, 2006 8:44 am

Lookin to buy an Omega Speedmaster - a watch that will hold walue or at least not dropped loads, something to keep forever. You can pick up a used Omega for about £900+ where as you an pick up an Oris new for that.

Looking at Oris-watches.com you can get a lot of watch for the money. Mainly looking at the TT1 divers watch. So, although it's a swiss movement watch, is it in the same league as Omega?

Before anyone starts...can't afford a Rolex,Breitling....

Cheers

i've got a patek philippe skeleton complication watch. didn't buy it tho, i inherited it! lol

with regards your omega/oris quandary - i'd go for the omega tbh. it's an investment and it doesn't need to be new for it to look the dogs boll0x!

watch out for fakes tho as there are a lot of very good quality fakes about. i had my watch serviced by the rolex/patek phillipe outlet in glasgow and it cost £235! it doesn't even take a battery ffs. but at least i got it confirmed as being genuine as certificates and fancy boxes mean fcuk all.

just watch what you buy, there are bad men about!!

Was just about to say the same thing - use my phone usually! My last watch died and the one before that I destroyed in a bit of a moped accident! I couldn't trust myself with anything fancy.

I know you said you don't have the budget but a SS Rolex Daytona will make you money. Costs £4k but because of the 4 year waiting list, used ones go for at least £5.5k and vintage ones alot more.

It's a watch FFS. Buy another car or something

I don't understand how a watch costs £500 let alone £5k.

My Swatch cost £40 and tells the time and date accuratly and without the need for a £200 service each year. I do not need a stopwatch as my life isn't exciting enough to need to know anything that accurate. +/- 5 mins is close enough most of the time.

Why do people buy Yoko 48's when they could just buy a budget tyre from Quik fit....why buy a sports exhaust when the standard exhaust will do...

I like watches and quality costs. :D

I have heard this from people about cars - "why buy a flashy car when anything else gets you from a to b"
