A new dogs life.

Some of you may remember but about a year ago we lost one of our dogs, Zak, to hip dysplasia. This left us with Meg, 6 year old black lab bitch. Now it has been nice with just one dog in the house but we have always been a 2 dog household so we decided to find a pal for Meg. Last Wednesday we headed to Mrs Murray's in Aberdeen. This is the council run cat & dog home where we got both Zak and Meg from in the past. It's a bit hit or miss when you go as to weather or not they will have what your looking for, and can be a real wrench when you see all the forlorn looking animals in need of a home and you know the countdown clock is running on each and every one of them.
Anyway, we got lucky again. In amongst all the staffies and Heinz 57 was a 2 1/2 year old chocolate lab who had been dropped of the day before and only just been released into the viewing kennels. The decission took about a nano second to make and a rather hurried dash back to the house for a second form of ID followed before we ended up with Bruno.
So, SE meet Bruno

I think we got lucky, again. He seems to be settling in well and is quite a character. Had us in stitches the other night throwing a dumb bell and chasing it by himself. And by god is he clumsy.

Lovely indeed - coincidentally, we are thinking about a second dog to accompany Harvey our liver & white springer, the missus has been looking on the Dog's Trust website

We got a dog from the dogs trust 18 months ago as an older dog, sadly he was put to sleep a few weeks ago but he was a wonderful dog and so well behaved. Its well worth a visit to the Dogs Trust and they are pretty honest about the dogs behavior etc too.
I will probably never buy a puppy or pedigree again now and alway try a rescue centre first

Donna i am part of a rescue group , and help with rehoming of a pedigree breed and very often puppies come up too so there is another option

.
Just because a dog is a pedigree doesn't mean they will be treated any better in life just they dont find their way into centres as much

He's gorgeous, what a lovely looking boy.
We got our Cane Corso from Mrs Murray's and she's turned out to be an amazing dog.
I've now gotten involved with large dog rescue including Corso's if anyone's after a big dog you can have a look at iron Mountain large breed rescue on Facebook
