Scottish Elises

Looks heavily based on the Elise chassis, 248hp and it's peak torque delivered at 0rpm

Will be built in the Lotus Factory too.

Dood to know that 20 years time when petrol is £50 a litre I can stick one of them engines in the Liz

Interesting reading, especially as it is being made at Lotus, but will not be available outside of the USA.

No mention of weight or which wheels are driven.

Indeed. My money's on it being RWD - no idea of the weight though I'm guessing not much more than the US spec Elise.

Kidding, right? Surely the whole problem with electric cars is battery mass and weight - if they're going for 250 mile range and lots of power, the battery packs must be quite a size (and weight)

well the batterys are a huge bunch of laptop batterys strapped together.

As to which wheels are driven RWD why on earth would you use an elise chassis and then make it frontwheel drive

Anybody got any idea of how much they are likely to cost.

Also occurs to me that battery life (how long before you need new ones not how often you need to charge them) might be an issue. Thoughts?

Def like the sound of it, 248bhp with full torque right through the range

Good point I was thinking mainly about the motor - but 248hp and 0 -60 in 4 secs it cant be 2 tonnes or anything?

That's estimated (random number generator) with all the torque at 0rpm, you might be surprised how quick it could accelerate with a lot of weight. No need to slip clutches or change gears.....

I'd bet at around 1.5 tonnes.... rough guess from gut feeling.
