Lol@Paul.

Shindig was awesome but it's not there any more. :(

I've lived here all my life and used to DJ in Newcastle but it's 5 years since I've been out in town so I'm no use either.

p.s. Most of the best clubs have closed but Digital is worth a look. Depends what you're after but The Gate complex is probably your best bet for a decent night. I'd avoid the Quayside and the Bigg Market as they are both shadows of their former glory.

Oh, and a good alternative for a good night out is Osbourne Road in Jesmond.

Just outside the city centre but some great bars and restaurants with a lot less chavs although slightly more students. :D

i went there a couple of years ago on a stagger, we went to the dog racing and the strippers so maybe not the best advice for a girly weekend

Just remember your not allowed to wear much and no jackets

the club Blu bamboo was good last time I was out there (couple years back) and we ended up in a bar called city vaults which wasn't too bad back then but up at the gate you have tiger tiger and pubs like that.

Louise lived in N'cassilll for a year, about 5 years ago; she lived just off Osbourne Rd in Jesmond. There were some decent restaurants (and places to stay). Been too long now, so can't recommend any specifics, but a walk through the city centre will reveal plenty of options, and sights!

I was a regular in Toon - when I lived and worked there many years ago ( 20+ ).

Have had several visits more recently when seeing relatives in the area but none recent enough to offer decent advice . Last time I was there the Quayside was 8)
