Any RX-7 owners out there?

Post by vx220 » Thu Nov 25, 2010 3:03 pm

I was wondering if there are any past or present RX-7 owners out there?

I nearly bought one before the Mini and now am lusting after one again!

Can anyone share any comments on living with one? It will just be a toy and not used for commuting etc.

Really fancy one but the insurance seems very steep, double what the Mini is!

Cheers
Kevin

Mass has (had?) one. I think it even had the honour of starring on MSN.

One assumes you get better quality rotor tips these days?

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Right then guys, got the insurance sorted so now looking for cars!!

So how thirsty are they on fast road runs?

I know about the rotor tips/compression/rebuild issues, what else should I be aware of?

Seen a really nice single turbo conversion, 480bhp, looks a great spec, but I think something with a more modest output would suit me better maybe, a spec R 280bhp sounds good!!

So Mass tell me more about yours?

Cheers
Kevin

A friend has one and it drinks petrol. It only has 40-50K miles on it and its catalytic converters have failed (which cost him a fortune) oil coolers connections broke (also fairly expensive) and he has already had to put new front and rear discs on it. To sum up its been a bit of a money pit given that its a japanese mass production car!

Not saying dont buy one, just go in prepared, with your eyes open. :)

Friend had one as a company car many years ago, couldn't average 20mpg even if he got out and pushed.
