Scottish Elises

Right folks.

I need to start thinking about a suitable car for Frolic. Dont really want to spend more than about 10k and dont fancy another elise at present.

Needs to have air con (hangovers in France arent pleasant)

Top of the list at the moment is an old boxster S but im starting to think ive missed a trick.
Are MX5s any good? Would a z3 / z4 be better. Anything else I should consider?

Dont want an out and out track car (will be married soon) and would like something Gem could enjoy also.

Alternatively I might just buy something like a ctr, bimmer etc which i can flog afterwards.

Thoughts please?

With C-pack you'll get air con I believe.

If you did get one of these I would be rather jealous. But very happy for you all the same. And it's big enough for Gem to put the shopping in the boot, and sproglets in the back (should that ever happen to you both!).

If I was forced to be without the Elise, but still had the proceeds in my pocket, I'd be looking at one very seriously indeed as it offers practicality for family duties as well as rewards for x-country trips and the odd trackday.

Believe there are plenty at or just under £10k, although I would be pushing above that (if I could) to find the cleanest, least molested example I could find.

Litchfield Imports are a good source of info, and possibly for supplying too, although prices may be higher there as they are mostly in the direct import game rather than reselling of already-landed cars...I think.

Plenty of other Type-R / import experts lurking around here I believe.

mx5's - stay clear - too heavy, too slow, to heavy on fuel.

S2000 - its been done, and no-one will get it more sideways than Lynda, so why try?

Boxster - at that sort of coin maybe a bit wobbily. Brakes/discs/tyres arent cheap either. Walshy is worth a call if you want to know more though.

E46 M3? Havent owned one, but bound to have ac!

Nicky loves driving the Lotus, and she has enjoyed building her confidence whilst doing so. To start, she would only drive it if i was there in the car, but now happy if a dry day to take it and get the roof off by herself!

Colour doesn't do it any favours and its fwd ( I think?) but for £3K ...and the ads 25days old so a bit of haggling could reduce it further .

Yep sure its FWD but even though a mate of mine ran one for a year whilst he was working in Switzerland and had an absolute hoot in it (he's had Elise's, Evo's, Hot Hatch Clio's and GTR's).

Personally quite like Yellow cars (but did have 3 yellow vehicles in the Garage once so I am partial to the colour).

added benefit of being quite sellable-for-what-you-paid when finished with it. I too had picked out an SLK32 but reckoned the autobox would be a no.
