Done a search already, and all the chat about cheap tyres and where to get them is related to 048s. Where has anyone got these from (bar MMC) that I should be aware of?
Geary sells them for circa £430 delivered incl vat, and there's a set on SELC*CK for £375 excl delivery that I'm tempted by. Plans do 48s only.
TIA
Greg (of the soon to be lightened wallet faction)

I've had a dig about, and nothing really stood out. MMC can supply and fit for about £442. Trouble with getting your own, and then having them fitted is that who do you use(plus adding the cost of that puts you pretty much at the MMC price). You get the 10% disc. at MMC which makes it a bit more competitive.

MMC quoted £425 for the tyres, plus £70 to fit
I hadn't pushed them on the discount, as I understood that to be a Pauline Thompson co-ordinated deal, and as we know she is no longer with that company (and dealing with them is far less appetising a prospect as a result).
To be frank, I rekon CCLM or whatever they are called would charge less than £70 to fit if you went in off the street, so I find the £70 'fitting' price non-sensical. All i can think to rationalise is that Murrays are trying to make a buck off their referral.
You're getting yours done after walshy aren't you ?

yes. I'll come back and do cloak and dagger on the 18th and then SIDC on the 19th, then get some new tyres.
Tom(now going to be called 3mil)
ps. including the discount, Mags paid £442.ish. That was recent (ie after pauline). maybe a wee reminder may be in order.

Fitting should cost a MAXIMUM of £10 per corner including balance. Cheeky feckers.

Well, maybe we could put our heads together and try to do a 2 peep group buy?

yes could be a plan. Sanjoy mentioned trying to do a group buy, but trying to get people all together with the cash is difficult. You and me are def. getting a set, say, mid August. you could change the title of this thread and see if anyone else wnats a set at the same time. They'd need to be definate, as maybe aye/maybe no is too much of a pain in the ar*e to organise.
Buying Neovas mid-august definately:

Yeah managed to put some notes down but not done anything with it yet...
Would probably need those taking part to take two sets of tyres to get a good enough discount to make it worth our while.

With Tom & I alone we're looking at 4 pairs

is 10 pairs a cert for bulk discount or just a rule of thumb?
I'm gonna drop Geary a line and see what he can do for us

Toyo T1-R
Goodyear Eagle F1
BFGoodrich g-Force Profiler
205 x 50 x 15
225 x 45 x 16
that 205 can't be right is it? (can you put a 205 on a standard front rim without making a banana shape?)
just supposing we did get some tyres(more than will fit on a car), did you say you had somewhere to keep them??

aye, you can get away with 205 on a 50 profile, 225s go with 45s. Car left the factory on 205s IIRC.
geary has been mailed and I'll keep you posted

205 on back and 185 on front.(i assumed that the 16" rims are wider(or deeper) than the 15" rims). anyone??

I guess this bulk buy if it goes ahead would be for only else/exige sized tyres as i need a set of 048r for 7 and a set of 021rs for 7

Car left the factory with 205's on the BACK. As posted, that 205 is for the front (15" rim) I've seen some fitted to exiges, but I think they'd rub on an elise (not to mention a grip differential with a 185 or a 195)
