can people PM me with a phone number for there friendly MOT stations???? preferably in central belt/edinburgh area
I'm looking for one who will overlook play in the steering rack and just pass it. My usual place wont do it now they are computerised. I plan to get a new steering rack fitted in the next 2 weeks, but tax is out and need an MOT to renew it now without resorting to a SORN. Its a bit of a bugger.
any help appreciated

One of the wee crap places like Harry Ross's next to the Laurieston bypass would prob overlook it. He'll pass anything there. I could see my mate in grangemouth to do it but i wouldn't feel comfortable asking him to pass it if the rack's hanging off.
How bad is it???

there is a fair bit of play in the rack, but i'm not trying to scam anyone. I do intend to fix it, but wasnt able to get it sorted in time, now my tax is out, it would just be alot easier to pass the MOT, then fix it, rather than SORN it whilst it waits for repair.
The car is basically only gonna get driven to the garage to fix it, but would still rather it had an MOT and TAX

Oh no you don't.
It's just they don't get bolshy when trying to renew. The 14 day thing was when folk used to send their application for a new disc to the local DVLA by post.

The 14 day road tax is the length of time you have to declare SORN or renew after the the previous disc has expired before they kick up a fuss and fine you.
You cannot drive the car on the road during these 14 days until it is taxed unless you are going to a pre-arranged MOT or pre-arranged appointment for repairs for an MOT.
