Shug's Shed is no more...

Some of you may know that I harboured a nasty old Rover 214 for general commuting/lugging. T'was a real old nail... even more so than most of them.

Good news is that I now have a new secondary motor! (No, the Liz is still there!) Got myself a timewarp 1990 Merc 190E for peanuts from a bloke who's mother had used it for the past 15 years to get to the golf club. Hence - it's got 86k on the clock - barely run-in for a merc of that vintage. To top that, it had a gearbox rebuild a few months ago and is wearing new boots as of last month! There are two (count em) spots of rust on it and I mean spots. Might just get them tidied up as the car is truly mint apart from that.

Cannot believe my luck - the only downside is a fairly brown interior, which may have been drafted in from a '70's Blaxploitation movie... However, as long as you get used to addressing me as Shuggy Bear when out in the Merc, all will be fine ;)

Oh, the price?

700 knicker.

Gotta love old Mercs :)

Got any mods planned? Neons?!

knowing shug, the next few mods will be to the suspension, namely:

1. knackering the bushes
2. killing the track rod ends
3. developing leaks from all dampers
4. bending the occasional wishbone (to be fair thats what i tend to do)

He'll then concentrate on the engine, no doubt he'll modify it to become the first merc with HGF due to porosity

Shug,
On the plus side that interior should be ideal for those little brown trouser moments!!!

As you well know neil, I drive miss daisy all the time... This car's a luvva not a fighta....

As for brown trousers - it's actually very progressive on the slide... no touching cloth moments so far....

Seriously, it's soo mint that I daren't mod anything on it (even bigger speaker enclosures) as it's one of those ones that, given a couple of gentle years, might appreciate in value amongst the Mercedes-isti.

As for weight... yeah - she's a porker!!

Still, it's amazingly fun to let her hike her skirts up and attack some sweepy twisties. A lot more competent than you'd think - not hideous body roll or pitch either. Very impressive car...

So, neiley boy... Dukes pass, yellow peril versus ShuggyPimpMobile?

Might just be up for that...

However, had word back from the nice man at Leda to say my dampers should be with me today. So, methinks the next time I'm at the pass, it'll be Shugmobile 1 (this is getting like Thunderbirds....)

ok, to make this fair, we'll both race the dukes pass in our commuter cars.

Why?

You think the dog would have a better chance beating me?

Doing Prestwick airport runs?

Surely you'd be doing well to beat that in the "amount of car for 700notes" stakes.
