Have heard the wee fecker up in the loft, no signs on ground level at all.

Trying this tonight.

Are you sure it isn't a bird Sanj?

We have had birds ( feathered variety) in the loft on a couple of occassions and my god they are noisy feckers - I never knew they went in for line dancing
I would have sworn it must have been a rodent from the scrabbing/ scratching noises but it was birds - thankfully they appear to be on holiday at the moment but I guess they will return if I don't block up the route into the loft.

Hmm could be, have chucked the ultrasonic thing up there for a few days which worked in the old flat but not on this occasion. There is the late night scampering that is giving them away.
Remember the scene from Rambo when they are shooting up through the roof ?

I get them in the loft here, mostly during the winter; I built them the perfect summer habitat in the form of decking so they don't usually bother at this time of year. I'd imagine if it was a bird though it'd be making other noises as well.

Anyway, an old fashioned mouse trap works for me:

We used the ramp type humane traps, they seemed to love Cadburys Caramel with some peanut butter on.

Not sure exactly how humane they are though, I mean being stuck in a space you can barely move in for hours and hours, then moved around, taken in the car, dropped off somewhere miles away etc..

Keep in mind they are also usually in families, so keep setting the trap until you don't catch any

Exactly. We figured the snappy traps were probably more humane...

Certainly, the sticky boards are the worst

They are rubbish. Skip brings living mice into the house and then sits and watches while we catch them !

Sanj we actualy have bats in the loft just now and in te evening it sounds like mice so check out this possibility too.
As regards traps Im with Robin, get a cat. Granted they can bring live ones into the house but just the smell of a cat should make them want to leave :thumbsup

Yep, Cat will sort it out.

I left the conservatory door open and a bird flew in, all was fine until the thing flew past the cat sleeping on the bed. A few thumps, squeeks and then silence.

Jen got the job of cleaning the blood, sh*t and feathers from the white carpet....

We have cats and dog. One cat does bring in live mice but they don't stay alive for long ... once she's finished playing with them she kills them, then plays with them some more, then eats them as far as the bum ... so we wake up to a tail+arse but nothing else!

Cheers,
Robin
