Tottenham
This will probably be contentious but I could not give a big rats ass. Just been watching the rioting last night, and disgusted that is happening in the centre of London and the police could not cope with it.
Twenty six police officers injured, dozens of police cars and buses set on fire, and then Banks and local businesses set on fire and looted. And who were the looters? Blacks and Asians. This is not racist, it was shown clearly on the news. But of course nobody is allowed to point this out otherwise they would be slated.
This is one reason that the BNP now has an MP in the Government, and if this sort of thing continues then they will probably get more. As they are a bunch of low lives this would not be good.
What is the answer? Hate to say it but I do not know.

Re: Tottenham
Good, honest and hard working people are brutalised, intimidated and mugged in London every hour of every day and no one gives a crap.
A supposed criminal gun runner gets put down after supposedly taking a pop at the police, and there is rioting and looting in the streets that now echo with the cry for bloody justice.
I've just walked past Kilburn Police Station, and there's six riot vans with fully tooled up teams inside. Whether they're coming or going I don't know (I live in NW London - The trouble is in the NE), but they're obviously expecting more trouble.
Disgusting to see - And no easy answer, like you say.

Re: Tottenham
All too often the rioters are low life who use any incident as an excuse to go on the rampage. They don't give a fcuk about the original incident. The problem is that the Police have to face the problem with one hand tied behind their back as the presence of the media and the prevalence of video phones means every move can be played back and the Police end up in court if they are seen to overstep the mark. Sad times that I think should be met with the heaviest Police response to nip it in the bud and take every last rioter off the street by whatever means possible.

Re: Tottenham
Allegedly kicking off in Enfield a couple of hours ago - Not on the same scale as Tottenham, but Krispy Creme / Nandos set on fire, HMW looted and two-hundred strong mob creating a serious disturbance.
Lots of police there, so calming down....For now...

After Katrina, New Orleans Cops Were Told They Could Shoot Looters.

"We have authority by martial law to shoot looters," Captain James Scott told a few dozen officers in a portion of the tape viewed by reporters. Scott, then the commander of the 1st district, is now captain of the special operations division.
Another police captain, Harry Mendoza, told federal prosecutors last month that he was ordered by Warren Riley, then the department's second-in-command, to "take the city back and shoot looters." A lieutenant who worked for Mendoza, Mike Cahn III, said he remembered the scene similarly and would testify about it under oath if asked.
There was speculation that the post of Met Police Commissioner would be offered to one of the New York or Chicago Mayors after their policy of zero crime tolerance worked so well. Maybe not a bad idea, they would certainly get backing from Boris.

Re: Tottenham
What ever happened to rubber bullets, tear gas, water cannons that sort of thing, surely the risk assesment for the protest must have taken into account that things could get violent (they did the last time) and things put in place to respond, filling the area with police would have antagonised but a plan to flood the area with police as soon as things kicked off probably wouldn't have stopped the violence but it would have sent the message that it will not be tolerated.
It's a sad state of afairs when the police can only take on Rupert and Myfanwy who are in a huff because their parents have to pay for their university education.

As long as they all stay down South its fine.
You have to go to these places to believe it. No white people in sight. Places where white people cannot go.
Been asking for trouble for ages. Now we have it.

Listening to a bleeding heart on TV at the moment speaking for the family. They want an enquiry as to what happened to their loved one.
You would have thought that they would have noticed on one of the ten TV's in the house that he was a gun runner who shot two policemen before they shot him.

Tut, you're not suggesting that if you are a law-abiding citizen you won't get shot in the head by a policeman are you?
That's ludicrous. I'm sure he was a wonderful son and doting father and that he was picked on by the bad men with guns because he was a bruvva. The police do have a habbit of shooting random people when they have a quiet morning and get bored. That's what I heard anyway.

Well that just shows the intelligence of all of this. Saw the supposed spokesperson for the grieving family on tv saying something like 'what do the police expect if they leave their cars unattended' ..classy.
