I have taking the leap and set up a wedding car hire business. Fingers crossed I get some bookings as my overheads are pretty steep while I get things off the ground.
If you get a minute could you critique my web page ie wording and layout. I have done the page my self so it is a bit rough
http://www.mainsweddingcars.com
I'm going to be covering the lothians and borders so if any se'rs have a wedding coming up or know anyone that does I'll sort out a discount

Hey good luck with the venture... Not sure if it's just me but other than the title which is specific to you all the other links are to some kind of make up stuff???

Excellent idea. There aren't many companies that offer an Elise for hire in general, let alone for a wedding. Will keep this in mind and will refer anyone who might be interested! Good luck with the new venture!

All the links look fine to me. Only comment would be I have to scroll left and right to see everything which isn't ideal.
Best of luck with the new venture

That isn't good I agree. The page fits on my whole screen no bother I wonder if monitor size will have an effect on this
I'll go check it out

Good luck
Like the idea of the Elise as a wedding car.
Think I have done about 5 weddings now in the Ferrari for friends (and wriggled out of another few) so there is definitely a market for something different. Another "angle" for hire is the end of year School Prom, done 3 of them this year and 4 last year (I assume it isn't just a local thing up here??) and made a change from the ubiquitous stretch Hummer.

I can't figure out why you've done it in Flash!

On a mac using firefox your site links don't work. The elise picture is blocking the links menu and page title banner. Also have to scroll across the page.
Cool idea though, hope it works out for you

Thanks all for the good wishes
I think I've fixed it so that it fits onto the page now. Could someone check for me

TBH I only done it in flash as the easiest webpage creating website i found uses flash. I tried others but couldn't get to grips with them. So its due to my ineptitude
I don't know why links aren't working, I hope its just teething problems

HI Mainsy
First off, best of luck with this mate
Website wise - think Simon has a good point
Its working fine on ie for me.
What i thought was missing was the following;
1.no call to action
2.no buy button
3. no dates
4. no 2011 dates available?
5. no customer testimonials - friends would do if they have borrowed the car for their day
6. Facebook - ensure you upload pics of your customers in the cars, and then encourage/ask them to "tag themselves" on facebook - will open up your FB page to all their friends, and help with the viral side of social marketing
7.video?
8.I take it you want people to call or email to book and enquire - if so state as such and be sure to have opening hours - or you will regret it long term!
9. Venues/event you have done? Pics from there?
10. Clearly stating what you believe your USP to be - what differentiates you from the rest
11. Google adwords? Affiliate programme?
12. Did you list a company number on the page?
13. remember at the moment you are a virtual entity to anyone looking at this on the web - so think about how to get across you are actually a real perosn and not some scammer -
14. Also worht stating quite clearly your geographical limitiations on hire etc - otherwise you could get some very amusing enquiries
Again, best of luck with it all, and I look forward to seeing some customer testimonials/video etc in due course.

Looks like a good start.
In a past life I worked with a large chauffeur drive company ( Littles ), that amongst other things, did a lot of weddings at the weekends. If you wish any pointers, feel welcome to drop me a PM.
One comment would be to get some clear vinyl on the car body work where the ribbon touches it; it's amazing how much of a sanding effect the ribbon can have when being shuffled by the wind; no matter how tight you get the ribbon.

From a non technical point of view i don't find the white on pink/white on orange very easy to read.
Maybe it's the font ?
For the Elise - why say something special for the groom? - you never know the bride may enjoy an Elise!
Why not say something different or similar there?
