S1 auction.

A friend gave me a heads up on this car which came in this morning, auction is tomorrow, and his father is going to bid on it for me. Obviously it is a buy as seen, there is no damage to it, but there are bad scratches on the back so it will probably need a respray. It's a '99, HPI repossession so no reserve, and the word is that it could go for less than £3K. Car was started up today and run for 15 mins to check that there were no obvious problems, and that everything worked.
I am going upto a max of £3.5K, it is quiet auction day and the car has been put out of sight, but if it does go above my figure, if anybody else is interested in going higher, then let me know for how much, and we can carry on bidding. Obviously worth more than I am going for, but that is what I can pay at the moment. Luke is champing at the bit, and I already have N111 TUT on retention so it must be an omen. Front rail on the hood is damaged but I have a spare and the car is dry inside, and the drivers seat is worn, but these are just cosmetic details.

Good stuff Tut, what a nice chap.
Keep me posted and not responsible if it goes pop or falls to pieces 3 miles down the road

Got to be worth a punt if it goes for that kind of money
Although you have to ask- just how many S1Elises does one family need?

Think it is Nautilus Campbell, same colour as Scotty's first Elise.
Not sure how you can say it looks and sounds rough from a photo, but try buying a '99 Elise for less than £8K. A respray from Alan who did N1 would be around £800, and if the interior leather needed a refurb it would be a couple of hundred. If I get it it will not be to sell on for a profit, but if I wanted to then it would probably realise £3K.
Just thought that if I did not get it, then it has to be a good bet for someone that is looking for an S1.

So that would be you with the S/C Honda, me with the Honda, Jamie with standard S1, this would need the Audi conversion and we are covering the upgrades!
Definitely a good buy, Luke will be wanting one as soon as he can get his hands on it. At that price it is a steal, and plenty time to get it in fit shape!

One of our own is going to go above my figure if I do not get it, so he almost certainly would.
I have not given any details other than it is an auction, but I obviously do not want S_E's bidding against each other, so could you please pm me if you have any intention of doing so.
Cheers

That does look good buy if undamaged and you get for even 4k. I would snap that up, refurb and see what history you can get from dealers & lotus build books. Drive for year and sell on...

Just heard it live on Colin Gourlays mobile but it was too rich for my blood. Unfortunately it went on the catalogue this morning so there were one or more traders bidding, if it had just been the floor then I would have probably got it.
Good news is that Colin carried on bidding, and one of our own got it. It was at Shotts Motor Auctions.

Stephen Curle bought it, so will leave it to him to post the price if he wishes.
