Well thats coming up for a year of (very!) happy ownership of the exige, and had the letter through the door this morning telling me that Ive got my first service coming up!

Anyone give me an idea of the costs??? MMC in Edinburgh (despite all the negative comments!) !

Thanks!

Barrie

IIRC, a 111R is something like £360 for an A service (oil change).
Shop around, it DOES NOT affect your warranty if you go elsewhere.

I'd have to say, from what I've been hearing on and off list, the trip down to Judes Performance in Newcastle is well worth the journey and you save more than the petrol costs in the differential. Dan might also do a decent job and not just tick the relevant boxes.....

Cost me just over £360 last month at MMC for 1st service on the 111R.
Wasnt an enjoyable experience and wont be repeated.

mine was £324.99, and they did a pretty good job from what I could tell :D

(MMC)

There certainly are a fair few people planning jaunts to Newcastle for future services though, from what I've heard

Mate, your experiences are very valid, but you appear to be the one person that has a real problem with them...

Was the work substandard? Was it not just that they did things and charged you for things you didn't want? This is an A service - I think they can be trusted with that!

FWIW, I'm considering going down to Dan in Newcastle to get the suspension overhauled all at once - can't really be arsed twatting about on my driveway with balljoint removers for a day and I like the Metro centre ;)

apart from the fact they did a geo i didnt ask for to crap settings, they didnt torque the wheel bearings properly  . I know i'm the only one who seems to have a problem, but i'm only stating my experience. Upto whoever is listening to act on it or not.

I'll post up in a wee bit about my recent suspension overhaul and another likely candidate for doing it.

The wheel bearings are pressed in... Was it the hub nuts that weren't torqued properly? If so, that's an issue, so fair enough - you should be shouting about that. The geo thing was silly, but did they rectify it, or pay to have it rectified?

Will be interested in the upcoming post (unless it's in bloody Kent or something and I'll have to spend £150 on petrol just to get there!)

yeh sorry, i meant the hub nut thingymabob.

TBH, they offered to redo my GEO for free (ignoring the fact i didnt ask for it in the first place) but i was so fed up with the work that i declined there offer.

I'm waiting to hear back from the guy, but will post up my good experiences later.

Andy - How did you manage to get it for £324??? (PS not forgotten about the KH video - been on hol)

Not sure what to do to be honest, I detest garages with a passion as its bloody difficult to get decent service from any of them! Only person I was ever happy with was hypertech in bonnybridge - duncan always did a good job.

So the options appear to be Judes in Newcastle (which I wouldnt be adverse to a trip down as I have relatives there) or MMC in edinburgh and hope for the best???

Is Judes in Newcastle an official Lotus dealership (contact number??)? I know it wont affect the warranty either way but just curious!

Thanks

Jude isn't official Lotus yet but I'd pay them a visit anyway by the looks of things. If it's just an A service take it to Falklands, it's only an oil change and a look over the car is it not? My A service was ~£150 all in.

Is it's a big issue why not take it down to Chris Neil in Cheshire - it's a nice enough driver down if you take the old 74.

Cheers

I got my car remapped at Falkland the other week and spent quite a while chatting to Kevin.

FWIW i wouldn't hesitate in putting my car there - seemed like really descent clued up guys. 8)
