Was thinking about all those chips out of the front of my car.

What do folks think of re-spray and then defendall to improve the look of things?

How much would all that cost, where is a good place for the job and how relaible is the colour match using the chassis number?

Chips are a fact of life for such low cars. Defendall is good but not impervious, ask ed! He has a pair of deep gouges in the middle of his front clam despite the protection.

I'd thought about a respray, but then I'd go back to wincing every time I heard a 'dink' on the motorway and I can't be doing with that!. No point really as Rich says, and IMHO whilst you'll know they're there, no one else really notices...

One thing to think about is to shove away the money you'd spend on a respray now and keep it for when you want to sell the car. Respray it at that stage....

Although it remains to be seen whether I can last that long with its current acne!

Chipped another windscreen on Friday also. The last one hadn't even covered 400 miles

Acne? WTF has my front clam got then? Leprousy?

No point spraying it yet. You could end up stuffing it into the tyres at a track day. Keep the dosh aside for when you eventualy want to sell it. Even then, it will depend on the market prices as to "is it worth it" to get it resprayed.

I would alway be wary of buying a car that had just had a respray "to cover the stone chips". Sure we are all nice honest chaps but who's to say that the nice fresh paint isn't covering up where the tree came to rest.
When buying secondhand I like things like original dealer no. plates front & back and some well aged stonechips.

True. So what you are best doing, is getting the respray a couple of months before selling Then, for the 'cherished but lightly used' look, go get a few stone chips, and wax some of them up, to give the well aged look .

Never buy a used car from me

Course you can always just wait till someone runs into you an get it done on their insurance!
I'm not a big fan of Defendall, it costs as much as a respray, it's certainly not invisible and as Rich says still gets stone chipped anyways. I used to have the thinner Lotus version on my car and it made the chips look worse cause you had a hole in the clear plastic, highlighting the stone chip in the paint work.
