Just read about this crash earlier today on Queensferry Road, luckily no one was injured by the sounds of it.

As a bit of trivia, I'm sure this is the car owned by on of the Gold Bros. Edinburgh folk might well know them as the owners of most of the tat (tourist) shops on the Royal Mile.

If the driver was speeding then he's a w@nker and I hope the police prosecute!
The accident happened at 3.40pm right outside Stewart's Melville College, just as the kids (some only 8 years old) were coming out of school. Right where they board the school buses and crossing the road at the pelican crossing.
Shame the Land Rover didn't driver over his head!

You don't generally see that level of damage if your sticking to the speed limits in town, careless driving charge at the minimum

Im sure the damage to the car indicates he was speeding but I hate the sensationalist reporting of 'three times over the speed limit' and 'even the airbags went off' - well yea they are programmed to go off at around 15-20mph

and as Donkey said - how can the eye witnesses tell his speed?
He was a plonker that deserves prosecution if he was speeding ( and I think we all know he was by state of the car ) but I wish the press would wind their necks in and report facts not eye witness reports that mean fcuk all
Edit to add: shame about the car though

The car is owned by a guy called Bindi Landa - does own a lot of the tat shops on the Royal Mile but not related to the Gold Brothers - he is actually their main rival.
I saw it parked up outside Boyd Properties office on Queensferry Road at about half 11 yesterday - so he didnt make it too far if he twatted it outsdie Stew Mell
He has not had much luck of late - about 6 masked men broke into his house in Blackhall a couple of months ago and gave him a right kicking

Ahh, thanks for that update. I didn't realise he was their rival.
My overiding memory of that car (and others he owns) is seeing them parked on the Royal Mile for hours at a time without getting a ticket...

Doom monger bloody 'do gooding' witnesses. Probably the same mentality of 'witness' that declared there was a solid wall of smoke from a few fireworks on the M5 last week. I assume the witness gave a police statement; would love to see that; "
the Billion pound Ferrari was doing at least 500 MPH". Makes my blood boil... you may have noticed
Don't get me wrong, as others have said, it would appear the driver must have been exceeding the speed limit from the damage to the car, which I do not condone. However, lets not assume things, and just because a sports car was involved it was not necessarily the sport's car drivers' fault. There was apparently another vehicle involved. Say it was doing 40 MPH, the Fezza was doing 30 MPH, and the hit head on; that would be a 70 MPH impact, possibly with no blame to the sports car. We all know how the press loves to get hold of a story like this, and will not let mere facts get in the way of a good story.

One of the parents from Stew Mel was injured in the accident, in hospital with serious leg injuries.
However not sure if they were one of the drivers or a pedestrian. From the photos you'd think it was the Ferrari driver, will try to find out more details later.
