Can’t believe I am doing this, said I never would but there you go things change and we have to accept them and deal with it. Have toyed with the idea for a while now but it has come to the point where a decision had to be made.
So I am on a diet.
Decided that I am not going to play at it this time, or do the new years resolution crap. Have spent a bit of time for the first time in my life actually looking to see what calories are in food. Do you know what has loads of calories?
Everything I f**king like! Well it’s not that bad, can still have meat which is a relief, probably need to cut down on carbs which will be a pain because I like rice and bread, what can I have with curry if I don’t have rice or bread?
I also worked out it eat nearly 2500 calories worth of crisps in a week,

so cutting that out will go a long way, apart from that I don’t really snack on crap but tend to have too big portions of some fatty things.
I don’t drink during the week but do drink too much at weekends so now limited to vodka & diet irn bru and try to not get steamboats. Cutting out snacks and most unhealthy food wont be that hard, but the booze is addicted to me so that might be a struggle.
Cycled to work this morning, last bit up the hill was a pain, looking forward to getting over the initial utter lack of fitness, plan to do this at least 2-3 times a week when I don’t need the car, plus at least 10mins a day doing weights and gradually build up the time on those sessions.
I plan to completely change my diet and just not have anything in the house to tempt me off it, so thoughts on healthy and interesting meals would be good. I like cooking but probably need to look into some healthier options.
So any advice, motivation, encouragement welcome.

Go for it mate, as you say, crisps are not good, and dropping them will help.

Good stuff! Another tip, Pizza is the anti-Christ when it comes to dieting!
I cut back on pizza and crisps before my wedding earlier this month ( my kilt didn't fit).
I also went to this
www.britmilfit.com at least twice a week and lost 2 stone in about 3 months and feel a lot better for it!
Good luck!

Kenny, you have witnessed the diet that I have, so if you want any tips, just ask, and you too could have the body of an athlete
Joking aside, I lost about a stone in the first few months of this year, and although that required some careful day to day food choices, I was still able to enjoy some decent meals. With a change in my circumstances in the past few months, I have gained half a stone again. Now it's back to rivita for lunch and getting the bike out a bit more for me.
I was having a chat with another SE'r over some pub grub the other night, discussing how at 'our age' we need to start thinking about fitness and health, before we start setting ourselves up for long term issues. Although we had that conversation the pub grub was good though,.. as I say,.. need to start
thinking about it..

Well done Kenny, it's all maths...calories in vs calories burnt...
How far is your cycle? It might actually be more beneficial to walk it (longer duration at lower intensity). Ideally aim to get at least 45 mins moderate exercise EVERY day (can just be walking). The time spent in the 'fat burning zone' after the first 25 mins or so is the key.
Appeal to your inner Scotsman and just think how much it costs to lose 5kg from a Lotus...

i started a diet again 2 weeks ago and going to the gym 4 times a week instead of once or twice. lost 4lb in 2 weeks.
I've put on 2 stone since i stopped racing (i lost 2 stone to go racing).
Not easy but the odd treat here doesnt kill you.
beer and bread are my killer foods.
you will enjoy fitness once you get fit'er

I like the sound of Brit MILF it.
Guessing it isn't what the name suggests
Good on ya Kenny. I too thought the Exige was at risk. I spent many years eating what I wanted and weight never varied. When I was ill last year I lost over a stone and have since put that stone plus another one back on so have also had to start being a bit more careful with what I eat.

Yep two things that crossed my mind, saving in optimax in the scooby and losing 2 stone might take a few tenths off KH laptimes
Cycle is about 8 miles round trip, thing I'll pass on walking during winter, but might try that when the light mornings return.

I'll pass on the Domsport diet for the moment

, right now going for total abstinance on junk, hopefully if things go well I can eventually allow the occasional treat but thats a long way away.

Well done Kenny - my weight goes up & down like a fiddler's elbow (unfortunately more up of late - I blame age - and beer and curry)
Look at salt content too - pizza (again!) and chinese scran are the biggest no-nos - and nuts of most varieties are great as substitute snacks (not dry roasted or the like though

)
I can tell you're serious here, so stick to it, and you'll be looking like this in no time

Happened to me as well, my weight had gradually increased over the years. It took a Nintendo Wii (Wii sports balance board game) to tell me that I was fat when trying to do Ski jumping at a friends house.
I decided that within a year I would be the way I would like to be and set a new baseline. I also did BMF (British Military Fitness) and it worked a treat. I lost 3 stone in about 6 months and my fitness just shot up. I'd never really ran before and last year I did my first 10k, marathon and also the Para's 10 (10 miles running in boots with a 38lb bergen on my back round tank tracks) 11 minutes within the paratrooper selection qualifying time, not bad for 41!.
Stick in, change your routine so it's part of daily life and not something you have to find time to do. If you exercise you'll have less time to eat and will be more motivated to not undo the work you've done. If you can find away of exercising in a group or team (like BMF) you'll probably work harder and be more motivated. It's also good to have a goal to aim for like an event of some type, when training for the Para's 10 my fitness level was probably at it's best and we raised over £1000 for a related charity.
Feel my pain!

How many calories do you burn in a furious fapping session?
