Germany -v- France

Thinking of jumping onto the Shed bandwagon at some time over the next few months. Getting rid of the comany car at the end of the year, and keeping the Elise and Karen's BMW.

However, since I'm no longer going to get the Europa - having seen it in the flesh at the motor show last month, it doesn't really offer us much more in the way of space etc - I could do with something to get me around over the winter - 2 x rear wheel drivers may not be the best combo.

Narrowed things down to a late Mk2 Golf GTI 16v (maybe Rich's pal at the base would sell his Oak Green one?), or a late 1.9 205 GTI.

I've had Golfs and Corrados before, but not had a 205. Anyone got any advice/(helpful) comments/suggestions etc?

My 205 was great. It was rusty and the gearbox was like stirring porridge with extra rusty nails but it was my first car.

The Mk2 is owned by a guy who spends his spare time doing them up. I'll ask see if he knows of any decent ones.

Get a 205 and stick a Mi16 in it - i did it to my 1.6 and it was awesome fun but you need to upgrade the brakes, i went with a 306 gti6 set up and i
they worked a treat.

Saw a mint K reg in the Burgh today and wished I still had mine!! The girlfriend thought i was mad but she just doesnt get it is a classic!!
