I have asked on the Lagavulin Facebook page but does anyone know what is going on with their pricing and supply ? Not seeing any at the airport and was nearly £60 last time I had a poke about the supermarket.

Sanjoy, you can get Lagavulin 16yo for under £40 in Costco.
Another whisky I like (but very different to Islay stuff) and only discovered recently (sample at Edi airport) is Dalmore.
Makro usually have it in stock.
Hmm, now got a decision to make;
finish Monkey Shoulder, a Laphroaig, a Highland Park or start and Old Pulteney.......
Green Subaru Impreza Turbo, a 'classic'.
Silver Jeep Cherokee 2.5 TD, on SORN spec...
Black Disco 3, black van man spec...

Finished my Laphroaig a month or so ago & never got around to replacing it on my optic (my regular tipple is Jack Daniels & Jim Beam and have enough of that in the house to take out a football team).
In preparation for Hogmany, today I picked up a 12yo Old Pulteney and a 12yo 'The Singleton of Dufftown'. Never tried either before so hope they are decent enough??

Tried the Singleton at a friends. After you get past the rather imposing bottle which make you think it's a 3l bottle it is a pretty smooth an easy malt. No Macallan but still very enjoyable.
Opening the Talisker 57 tonight.

I've had a drop of The Singleton 2 nights running now... very easy as you say Sanjoy. Leaves a touch of sweetness at the end. I like

I never realised that the 57 related to the abv as well as the latitude!!

Is the singleton basically what used to be Glen Ord?

Old pultney 21 is only £55 in duty free. (whisky of the world 2012) according to jim murray. Most of the supermarkets seem to be bumping up prices so they can offer "deals".
Not really enjoying the Glenbridge 40 year old that I got from Aldi so I've punted my other bottle.
So jealous you are heading over to Islay. Read Raw Spirit the other week which gives a good insight into the industry. Bit too much moaning about the war but apart from its well worth a read!

Well jealous. I've wanted to go over for the Feis Ile for many a year.
Any reason for not taking the cars. There's some cracking roads over there (if you can avoid the sheep).

Islay would be my second home.
If i won the lottery I would resurrect Port Ellon, it rivaled or surpassed even Laphroaig and Lagavulin.
