Scottish Elises

Just a quick note to thank the members for welcoming me at knockhill on Saturday.

Very nice to meet chaps who were happy to chat and include me in things, despite my S2 Elise being the 120bhp model with no modifications.

Can I give particular thanks to those who kindly gave me pax laps - great experience - and to Shug who was happy to chin wag despite my basic questions.

Special thanks to Ed for the spin coming out of the chicane - I completely shat it. However, Ed, in true Maverick style made "a good recovery." Very cool and calm. To quib another film and in the words of Stifler - "THAT WAS AWESOME!"

No problem at all - always good to have a natter.

Don't worry about the 'basic' questions either - like I said on the day, you tend to pick things up very quickly and it seems like it's no time before you're one of the 'old hands' and offering advice yourself.

Oh, and as for inclusive - we even talk to people with sh!tey-brown coloured Cateringvans, so the fact that you've actually got an Elise at all puts you in good stead! FWIW, one of our old hands (I'm sure he won't mind me calling him that) Giles still has 120bhp & Bridgestones, AFAIK. Doesn't hold him up on track or on the road Car mods seem to be the norm here, but are by no means mandatory!

We're just a bunch of folks with like interests - thankfully, pecking orders have (and never have had) no place in SE

To be fair, when I smile, it's always like an idiot

John, don't worry about the power or mods, just modify yourself with lots of practice and if possible some training (Walshy) days, KH instructors etc., however modifying the brakes isn't a bad idea as I think the original Lotus ones on the S2 are pish, all you really need is some better Pads like Pagids, expensive, but worth every penny. I understand why many people increase the power, especially for the track, but don't rush into it, learn with what you have right now.

Many thanks for the advice.

I actually need to replace the disks - any suggestions. Shug and Mac had mentioned someone who can groove plain discs you buy yourself.

Also, I have bought a hurricane induction kit (just wanted a better sound and doing this as a prelude to a new rear box) and might be better having someone with experience on hand for fitting - any takers?

Stu 160 is your man for the disks, see my thread from fitting mine in technical http://www.scottishelises.com/phpbb/vie ... c&start=15

I'm using Stu's disks (with oversize fronts) and they're very good.
