The Lotus effect..

Yesterday up Grt Western Rd day a bunch of school kids at the bus stop started worshipping me bowing down like some crazy cult like fanatics. A few europeans pull out thier cameras and take a few pics and start babbling in some foriegn tounge at me but from their gestures I'd assumed they approved of the car. Now this is pretty normal on a nice day when me cars clean.
But then ye get the nutters...like the tit who ran into the middle of the road in front of me to get a pic at the lights. In fact everytime you come to a stop at a bus stop you'll see the camara phones whipped out snapping away. Its a bit awkward...I mean...imagine someone just ran up to you on the street whilst you were strolling minding your own business and starting snapping away at you? Make you feel a bit miffed wouldnt it?
Damn paparazzi
Leave meee alooooone!!

Had a few strange experiences in the car like you mentioned. We parked it at the front of Pollok House and went for a walk in the gardens. When we returned the car was surrounded by Japaneese Tourists taking it in turns to have their picture taken standing beside it. I was almost embarrased to walk up to them and drive it away.
I've also had folk leaning out of cars behind me at traffic lights taking pictures on camera phones.
Think I made a boy and his dad's weekend last Saturday - I had gone down early to fill the car up, got chatting to a guy and his son and let his boy have a seat in the car while I was putting in the petrol. They were that impressed they waited for me to pay for my petrol so that they could hear my exhaust as I pulled away (must have been really disapointing as I have a standard exhaust!!)
If people show an interest then I'm only to happy to talk to them about the car, I suppose its a whole area of ownership you don't really appreciate when you buy one. This sort of attention is nice and I have to say it has outweighed the negative stuff 10 to 1.

a couple of weeks ago i was driving thru glasgow at night with my gf in the elise and a fcuking ferrari flashed his lights and waved at me! what other £16k car gets that kind of attention?!?!
also, when i pick my gf up from work i regularly get people takign pictures which i think freaks natalie out a little! personally i love it
but the best/funniest story is this:
was out for a run on a couple of saturdays ago (heading up towards crainlarach) and while i was pottering along in the fast lane on the M8 (juction 11 or so) i noticed a nedmobile (couldn't tell the make of the car it was so modified) approaching fast from the rear! obviously being the courtious driver that i am i indicated and pulled into the middle lane to let sed neds pass.
so along them came horsing along, but they didnt' pass!
i turned to see all the blacked out windows roll down and 3 baseball capped neds appeared hanging out the car at about 80mph all thumbs up and nice car mate etc etc!
what can i say - it made me smile
it's the lotus effect that you really can't explain to other people! it brightens up your day no end, cos i remember being the 8 year old kid who'd wave at "fancy" cars and hope they'd rev up or flash their lights. kinda takes me back to being a kid again i guess - ah simpler times!!

I have only had my car a month or so and it takes a bit of getting used to . I was a bit paranoid at first.
I was up in Glasgow waiting at lights and this American guy runs across the traffic and starts asking me about the car oblivious to his dangerous position. I think his description was "Narly dude", I assume thats good.

I have to say most of my experiences have been positive/embarassing like everyone elses, but i was also called a dick by a couple of boy racers in an odd looking renault 19 for no apparent reason other than sitting in traffic soaking up the sun......envy works in mysterious ways and a gesture of my finger wiped the grins of there faces, obviously they didn't expect retaliation.
