Cliff jumping / Canyoning anyone?
Cliff jumping / Canyoning anyone?
Having just gotten back into the swing of things since the move I recall someone discussing cliff jumping / canyoning / gorge walking.
I am qualified to do this and lead a team of scout leaders who do the events nationally for the scouts (See Avtar). I would be happy get the other guys in my team together to do a wee outing for the SE guys. It would be a bunch of mates on an outing though as not being commercial I do not have any insurance etc as this is normally covered under Scout insurance.
If required I can arrange the hire of scout equipment too.
We are running a couple of sessions on the weekend of the 15th Sep and the afternoon of the 17th may be free to do a trip then.
Let me know who would be interested.

If you're not living on the edge you're wasting too much space!

Personally speaking, I'd rather eat my own plumbs...Stephen wrote:Having just gotten back into the swing of things since the move I recall someone discussing cliff jumping / canyoning / gorge walking.

You have your own fruit trees in the garden too???
... Watch out for the birds, all of Tut's fruit got nibbled in one night!

I'll have you know that I'm no stranger to birds nibbling my berries... Don't seem to get as annoyed about it as Tut though...Dominic wrote:Personally speaking, I'd rather eat my own plumbs...

They were my cherished cherries for gawds sake.
Been watching them grow and mature all year, tried a couple before they were completely ripe and they were delicious.
Would not mind, but we feed those little thieves all through Winter, and look how they repay me. Not even gradually, but cleared the lot in one night.

I was canyoning and cliff jumping at Dunkeld a year or two back for a stag do.
We had been doing quad biking and other stuff, so we were all knackered not to mention hungover to buggery. So we got to the last jump, the big one, 60 or 80 feet whatever it was. You could tell we had all bottled it and had no intention of doing it. We were confident that no one else would either as the rest of the group were families with youngish kids.
So when the instructors got around to asking who wanted to go for it no hands were raised......exept two small blonde girls who looked about 12.
Cue much muttering of "phuck it" and tentatively raised hands amoungst the brave and the still drunk.
Good fun though.

Paragliding? Bloody luxury.
We used to jump off the Jebel in Salalah, Oman, 4,000ft, after a BBQ, ten gallons of piss, a couple of Gulf Air Hosties each, using nowt but pillowcases, land in the sea, fight off a couple of great whites, run the ten miles back to base, jump in a chopper, fly to Saiq, kill a few Adoo, then back to the Mess for dinner.
And we had it easy...........

Stephen,
Nicola and I would be up for this.
Do you have gear (wetsuits etc.)?
We have the river bugs booked on the 24th Sept, still 3 places available.
...but you have to pay...
