Screw in tyre

Help

Heard a funny noise like a stone in the tread from the passenger rear tyre after leaving Lawrence's on Saturday.

Tyre looked a bit flat on Sunday so put some air in. Had good look round but initially could not see anything.

Have now noticed a screw in the centre block of the tyre which I think i missed previously as that part of the tyre was downwards.

I think can be repaired and the tyres still have plenty left in them.

Any suggestions on a location to get this done in Edinburgh? Need someone who will jack the car up properly.

Had thought about Farmer Autocare.

farmers/kwik fits are very touch and go everywhere, if i where you id take it CLCM, bankhead industrial estate, the bloke seems to knows his stuff and has worked on my car before.

more expert bods will be along to correct me, but...

I would seriously consider the ramifications of a tyre 'repair' on a high performance tyre. All it would take is a failure on a 'spirited' drive, and you're in a hedge. Multiply that by infinity if you're considering tracking your car.

I wouldn't do it, not for the sake of £90-odd quid

think shug has had tyres repaired with no problems,

if the hole aint to big then im sure it would be ok, light wait car and all that, guess it depends on how much meat is left on them?!

Yeah, there is some weight to that argument...

Having said that - I holed an R888 early in it's life and didn't have funds to replace. Got it repaired by a good tyre place and it held for 5k worth of my pace runs and trackdays. When we took the tyre off, the bung was as new.

No offence to John, but I don't think he's at the stage to be giving it the sort of abuse I dished out for 5000 miles, so I'd get it repaired.

One other point is that it's in the middle of the tread. Much better for repairs as it doesn't see the side-loads that the edge or sidewall would. I'd never repair a sidewall, but tread will be fine....

Many thanks for the help.

Actually had my wheels balanced at CLCM about a month ago - so thanks Ed, will try there this pm.

No offence taken from Shug's comment - I really don't hammer around as I am still getting used to the car.

I will see what the chap from CLCM thinks about replacement/repair once he has seen the damage. I certainly don't want to risk life and limb for the cost of a new rear set.

Auto Image on Dundee Street - always had great service from them and I reckon could do it well before Thursday
