Winter 4x4 hack wanted

Looking to get an early Freelander (or similar) for Kathy to use this winter.

Good fuel economy, some toys to keep her happy, reliable, cheap to run/service, and 4x4 for the snow. She works out in the country, so larger amounts of snowfall compared to the city.

Anybody know of anyone with something to sell, or coming up soon?

Previously she has had Mk1 Freelander, Discovery, and the latest Freelander.

It's only for the winter, as she will be using her Slk (which she loves) the rest of the time.

Keep it cheap, as the money is coming off of my Evora funds

Cheapest option would be 4 winter tyres for the SLK which is what I ran when I had mine

I have a 99t plate Subaru shed, with 4 good winter conties on it, smells like a farm inside ( its been on the farm since it was a year old.) only done 36k from new, Very good nick, just need a good clean. £1000.

Or, a 2.5 touareg, 90K good condition, used every day by me now, no problems £7900.

Got 05 plate freelander xei td4 3dr in black 76000miles 1 prievious owner. Great condition, fsh 4 newish Goodyear vector 4 all season tyres on it. After £5k for it. Pm for pics/more info

We have an xtrail which we are very happy with. (despite front caliper seizing.)
2.2 derv engine still returns 38 mpg, not the most comfortable car I've ever been in but it drives ok and deemed reasonable offroad.

RAV4 with the D4D engine.

Strong (it's a Toyota), cheap to run, hold their value and capable of a surprising amount off road.

I am also on the look out for one of these!

I too have been thinking about getting a winter hack. I know its wrong, but have an overwhelming desire to get a P38 Range rover for winter such as this

We managed to find a very a 53plate Freelander in very good condition, serviced regulary, with only 50,000 on it.

The previous owner was only putting on about 4,000 miles a year.

It has four new tyres on it, and this should be good enough for Kathy to safely get to her work for the next few winters.

Sounds like my mother's Freelander.... she's had it from new, around 2003, and does about 1000 miles a year. That's around 4 tanks of fuel for her per annum, (it's a V6). Works great in the snow & ice (I usually nick it when the weather turns).
