Just checked compare, and there is no mention of TalkTalk.

I would not necessarily recommend them as the deal has proven too popular, and they can not now keep up with the demand and have a back log. However I joined up right at the start and had no probs, likewise when I got on line.

Price wise it is unbeatable. For £9/month you get unlimited landline 24/7 phone calls, both UK and International, and free Broadband upto 8mb speed, with 40gb download. Rental is £11, the same as BT's.

Despite some bad reports, I've been with NTL for ages and it's always been pretty good. They keep upping the speed without upping the price. I'm currently 4MB, due to go up to 10MB for £24.99 per month. They do have some introductory offers I believe. Also, no download limit.

Ninja, what did you go for in the end?

I've just told BT to ram there phone and broadband up their erse!
They can't get the broadband switched on in my new house, even though it was on for the 1st 2 days while the phone was fecked. Once the phone was activated, the broadband mysteriously didnt work!

Fed up speaking to indian call centres who keep saying "oh Mr Miller, i understand your frustration..." and halfway through a rant, they butt in and say "...how is the weather Mr Miller?"
:knob :thumbsdown

Think i'll investigate Tut's recommendation...

If you have an Orange mobile phone contract, and your monthly bill is over £25 (I think), and you have a BT land line, Orange had an offer of free broadband with free wireless modem. I think it's still on the go. That deal appealed to me, as, at the time, as far as I could tell, it was the only one offering the modem too, and no connection fee.

I was an existing customer, (they advertised the offer for new customers), so just had to extend my contract for 12 months. Worked a treat so far. There are download limits, but I have had no problems. Check out there web site for details.

Despite the usual chat about how bad they are BT Broandband has been excellent - went for the home hub with the phone and effectively have two lines into the house now, so she can be on the phone to one of her friends, and people can still get through on the landline or i can call out with free calls anytime in the evening or weekend!

Only getting 6mbps not the 8mbps claimed, but all down to your area and the exhange!

yeah, i've had quite good service from them(BT) up until now...

I just can't believe how arsey they're being! The call centre has been hanging up on me and the GF. They're eating on the phone, putting me on hold for ages, saying its going to take 3+ days for an engineer to even get off his arse and check the exchange!!

I actually got a phone call from them this morning at 05:30!!!!
:x

Then they came back and said they would send an engineer out to us, but it would cost us if there was any hint of it being our fault.
I told them to send engineer out then they said they couldn't book one in at the moment and they would phone back in 24 hours!!! - im assuming that the 5.30 phone call was them confirming appointment!

AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!! :x :x :x :x

I have the pleasure of dealing with BT for my job (IT Business Analyst in the Telecoms industry) and they really are a shower of useless tw@ts. I can't believe such a large company is so disorganised, has no documentation for their own systems and still has such a hold over the entire industry even though their monopoly came to an end some time ago.

Due to my experience with them through work, I would never take a personal home phone/broadband package with them.

If you have Sky tv, you can get sky bband.
The basic package is free.

However they are in the process of rolling it out and wont be available in my area (south of Glasgow city centre) for another 5months or so, however when they are, im moving to their 'mid' package.

I got the orange deal as well. Wot dominic said above. Works a treat 8)

Like Dezzy I deal with BT on a regular basis at work, arranging installations to new houses. Bunch of arse. Trouble is that so much of the business is sub-contracted now (as are most service providers- gas etc) that no-one knows wot the *** is going on. Have waited nearly 2 years to get installations for our current development. 'Luxury' flat with no phone service anyone? Only £300k.
