I have recently upgraded my PC to windows 8 and I like it but one problem it does have is th music app only add local files to the library :( I can play files from my NAS but the ideally I would like them in the library.

while playing about with it I noticed it has ISCSI (iomega storcenter ix2-200) , not knowing what it was I did a bit of reading and it would appear that this is ideal for the task. I am currently backing everything up so I don't loose it all.

Quick question will it work ?

It's windows ... so it might work for a while, then it will scramble all your data :-) I've never tried it, so cannot comment more constructively. Robin

Iirc when I had a similar problem on win7 I found a hack.

Create a folder in root called something like share. Create a shortcut in they to the Nas share.

Right click the folder you created and then add it to the library and then it adds the contents of the share.

:( nope Microsoft know about this problem and have still to do something about it. (it works fine if its on a PC running windows home server) does anyone keep their media on a PC nowadays ?
