I have recently upgraded my PC to windows 8 and I like it but one problem it does have is th music app only add local files to the library I can play files from my NAS but the ideally I would like them in the library.

while playing about with it I noticed it has ISCSI (iomega storcenter ix2-200) , not knowing what it was I did a bit of reading and it would appear that this is ideal for the task. I am currently backing everything up so I don't loose it all.

Quick question will it work ?

It's windows ... so it might work for a while, then it will scramble all your data I've never tried it, so cannot comment more constructively. Robin

Iirc when I had a similar problem on win7 I found a hack.

Create a folder in root called something like share. Create a shortcut in they to the Nas share.

Right click the folder you created and then add it to the library and then it adds the contents of the share.

nope Microsoft know about this problem and have still to do something about it. (it works fine if its on a PC running windows home server) does anyone keep their media on a PC nowadays ?
