Speed camera

Post by skellyjohn » Mon Sep 11, 2006 4:26 pm

I was flashed by a SC yesterday at Moodiesburn. I knew it was there as I drive past it every 2 days and my Road Angel reminded me so I was sitting bang on 30mph. There were no other cars so it definately flashed at me even though I was not speeding. What should I do?

A: Report it to somebody as being faulty?

B: Wait for the postman to bring me the letter?

C: Return to the camera with some explosives?

B: Just wait for the postman. Hopefully he wont bring you anything..

C: Do that too

Remember they have to prove your speed they can't just say the camera went off therefore you were speeding. The time delay is set in the camera and you have to measure the distance, hence the white lines.

Wait for postie then go postal if he brings a NIP!

I don't think that's possible. I thought that the lines on the opposite side of the road from the speed camera are for catching people speeding to overtake and the camera can't be triggered by someone going the opposite direction. That's what I've been told anyway :?

you can definately set a gatso off when travelling in the wrong direction, but you cant be prosecuted by it.

Yes they can, seen it done too :thumbsup

The GATSO scameras works on RADAR doppler shift so can be triggered by speed towards or away form the camera

Wrong!
If there are lines on the other side of the road that prove you were speeding you can be done for it.[/i]

Hmm I enjoy setting the one on the A71 off on the wrong side. Is there not some odd loaw staing that the camera needs to be on the same side of the road as you. Something about to coppers on the other side ofh te road catching some bloke on camera / laser and then getting off as they were not 10 foot from his lane etc.

As the car approaches the camera from the front the camera will go off too soon as it is seeing the speed from futher out (Doppler RADAR has no ranging capability only speed) it will then flash too soon. They could do you for speeding as they could work out your speed if they wanted to but it would be more difficult. The RADAR is used to trigger the camera only; the 2 photo's a certain time apart provide the evidence that you are speeding.

This is why you can't be done if you weren't speeding as there is no photographic evidence.

That is your tax £££ at work, they taught me loads about RADAR I have never used in 6 years
