There is a pretty hefty diesel spill on the island between Dairse and Guardbridge. My gf has just spun off and trashed an alloy and tyre.

Does anyone know if there is any way of claiming this off the council? The police were aparrently already aware!

I think that you`d probably have a tough (read:impossible) task of claiming anything off the council. From experience of trying to get a tyre and alloy for hitting a pot-crater in Edinburgh its not easy.

Dont know how it works though if they were aware; good luck though!

If they were aware and there were no warnings then you should be able to claim.

agree with simon. if the police and council were aware and there were no warning cones or signs up then you will be able to claim! i've claimed from north lanarkshire council for a trashed ducati 748 following a diesel spill no problem at all because the police knew about it and informed the council who did nothing at all. nothing like having the police as your witnesses! lol

not a problem at all - just get a report off the police saying they were aware of the spill and then write to the council asking for recompence.

Just got a reply from Fife council: Cleansing (?) have said that Transportation (??) responded at 1800 on the 9th Sep, which, as luck would have it, was 10 minutes before my gf had her crash... her proof being the 999 call she made at 1815 and the 2 off duty cops that very kindly stopped to help (Thank you!) Everyone else just drove past!

Curious that it took less than 10 mins to clear up... or not. :?

The damage will cost around £120 for the wheel and tyre and another £60+vat for a 4 wheel align.

[engage sharp pen] Dear Fife council...........

it would appear that the cleansing department guy's lied to their boss and your 999 call and the policewitnesses are basically your proof!
