Hong Kong ‘living cubicles’

Post by Doc883 » Wed Apr 10, 2013 8:56 pm

Hong Kong is home to a population of seven million crammed into an area of just 424 square miles. Incredible shots offer a glimpse into the reality of living in one of the most densely populated areas of the world

Going cross-eyed looking at some of those.

Spent a week out there last year for work launching our software to the market, and the only thing that kept me sane in the immense heat/pollution was my 5 star hotel overlooking most of the monstrosities.

Spent a weekend wandering the streets, seeing the sites, and whilst it was fairly impressive, i wouldn't move there if you paid me a lot of cash. I know it is some peoples thing, the busy bustling streets, nothing gets boring and an incredibly fast pace of life, but i'll put it down to living in Scotland, not really loving the likes of London, and therefore not for me!

I am sure there is a different side, such as the public transport is fantastic, the hospitality first class, the people very hospitable, but simply just a little overcrowded for me!

Amazing to have been and sampled all the same, and if you get the chance the Langholm in Kowloon, has an incredible roof top terrace bar!

going here in September, pictures are really in the business areas, the further down the line from kowloon you go the less busy it is.
I stay in Tai po where buildings are around 10-12 stories high average, with random higher buildings like you see.

they have some of these (or something like it) at the new Wallwd Garden cafe/mico brewery on the Archiefield estate just outside Gullane. Called a pod hotel or something. All named after pro golfers. Not sure what they are doing there.

If you have kids the walled garden has a great (secure) play area whilst you sit and try out their on site beers.
