Attempted theft!!

Post by twisted2fit » Sun Apr 21, 2013 7:56 pm

Had the police over confirming my suspicion that somebody had tried to break in through my bedroom window on the 2nd floor!! The window was locked in the ventilation position that looks like it is ajar. They suspect someone thought it was open and took a screwdriver to it in an attempt to pry it open .
Luckily they didn't get in. They are pretty sure they were after the lotus parked in the drive. Just thought I'd give everybody the heads up.

I'm glad they never got in but this type of thing is far too common in Aberdeen just now.

Sorry to hear about this, but glad that the b******s did not manage to break in and steal anything.

Remember to hide your keys away, it is well known that most people just throw their keys down on to the first available flat surface after entering their home. I have even heard of crooks using fishing rods through the letter box to hook car keys.

Looks like you had a lucky escape. Which area do you stay in, and have you heard of any break ins recently from others that stay close by?

One plus point to think about is that the Evora is so rare on the roads that if it were to get stolen then the people on here would probably see it first before the police.

Tracker fitted?

Steve.

I stay down by the beach. Keys are always well hidden. Some cars have been broken into in the area but nothing else. Wudnt have imagined they'd try to steal a lotus because they r so rare and stand out. Anyway just a shame it doesn't fit in the garage:-(

I have 2 sets of keys left out in my livingroom from my old cars, that way if someone breaks in, they will waste time trying to get into the cars with the wrong keys, hopefully being seen in the process. Or putting them off from coming back in looking for more keys

Not good at all.
Just been told of a similar break in in Armadale with 2 cars stolen.

Does a removable steering wheel in an Elise make it 100% safe from theft?

Makes you sharpen your pencil when something like this happens, hope they fall and break thier back next time.

Steering wheel would at least stop them from joyriding, not a lot can be done if they lift or trailer it away like my evo. Tracker will be fitted to every car from now on!

Wouldn't make it 100% safe from theft. If someone really want your car then they'll take it but it would prevent the opportunist thief.

There are a certain transient group that are up in the aberdeen area just now. I wouldn't like to say who, as it's probably classed as descrimination, they left dundee last week. Purely by coincidence there is also a crime wave follows them all the way up from england and all the way back down again, every year.
Probably weren't after your evora if it was them, as too easy to spot. More likely to see the nice car, and decide there would be stuff in the house worth having.
And before anyone has a go at me for being so un-PC, there were four members of one family arrested, and caravan crime fell by 70% (was on one of those police camera action programs)

I don't think this will be down the the "transient group". There's been a spate of car crime up here from a couple of joyriding local gangs for a while now

Tut,

You don't need a removable streeing wheel, do you think anyone would get past "Khan and co" for the key's in the first place......

Cheers

Two burglars in Old Deer were rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary last night after suffering what paramedics described as "a life-threateningly affectionate licking". More at 10.

I'm not far from you, and car is parked on the street or in carpark, so will keep an eye on things.. However, not sure they'd want to take the Kryten's head Vauxhall version... (tempts fate) :D
