Strathclyde Police RT Initiative

Post by Titanium S1 111S (gla) » Wed Apr 24, 2013 10:58 am

Strathclyde Road Traffic Initiative

Our local boys in blue are having a competition to see who can issue the most tickets just now. I have been pulled over twice in the last half hour to inform me that I do not have an MOT. Thankfully on both occasions I was able to point out to them that I was on the way to a pre booked MOT so am on the right side of the law.

Presumably the chief constable is offering a week in Magaluf to the PC who issues most tickets.

Careful chaps!
Graham

Wondered what was going on... The M74 extension was a veritable hotspot last night. Saw one guy getting a ticket on the way to Tescos, and they had a good sniff of my Audi's backside on my return.
Arriving broadside, in a cloud of smoke......

The M74 extention has been a nightmare for a week or so now. They seem to be having a massive clamp down

There's a tonne of traffic police kicking around in Edinburgh just now too. On my way from the gyle to fountainpark a couple of times last week I spotted a minimum of 4 traffic cars each time.

Usually lucky if I see 1 panda car every 3 months.

Killie to Glasgow Airport via the M77 and M8. For the last month or so I have seen a traffic car on every trip to work. Often 2-3!

Haven't been pulled for years, but I got stopped twice today after passing parked, eagle-eyed coppers who spotted my lack of tax disc in their rear view mirror. 10/10 for observational skills at least!

Holder had fallen off and disc was lying in view on the dashboard.

First lot were extremely pleasant.

Second lot (traffic) were from the Genghis Khan school of PR

Said it was an offence not to have it attached to the windscreen, which TBH I'm not sure about? They didn't seem the type to let me off if true...

Failure to display is an offence.

I once got a fine from a traffic warden when the car was parked and the sun had melted the tax disc holder off the screen.
If the nazi had looked he would have seen it sitting on the floor.

Had to go to the police station to prove it was taxed and get the fine over-turned. Donkey is right, the offence was failure to display but as I went to the station about 10minutes after the ticket was issued they couldn't really claim I didn't have the disc in the car.

If its sat on the dashboard surely that counts as being displayed though?

Much easier and safer to sit by the side of the road and keep their figures up by stopping motorists rather than dealing with crime.

It seems that they do not even bother calling around after a break in and burglary nowadays, or is that just in Aberdeen?

Alas no it has to be on the passenger side windscreen, if you dan't have a windcreen it has to be attached like a motorbike on a particular side that I can't remember)
