Round 1 of 'Super Lap Scotland' is at Knockhill this weekend

Its pretty much like Time Attack, just slightly different regs, classes and format.

Its run by KMSC (Knockhill Motor Sport Club) and is an MSA recognised Championship.

I think its £10 entry for spectators, hopefully it'll be a good watch with MX5, Saloon and Legends racing also on through out the day

The shutter on the 1d Mark IV I use is rated to 300,000 shots, and I'm currently at about 30,000 so only 10% used, and even then it's only about £240 to get a new one fitted.

Sadly I clipped the armco at Croft a few weeks ago and bent the flash hotshoe and put a hairline crack on the top part of the camera body, so sent it off to get the whole top section replaced as it wouldn't have been dust or waterproof, and a full service and clean.

I'm quite intrigued to see what the reverse lap times will be... esp in Class A and B

The qualy times will prob be quicker for some, but still no real experience of the reverse layout for most of the competitors.

My guesses... : based on dry track

Class A - around 55secs best
Class B - around 57secs best
Class C - around 58secs best
Class D - somewhere around the minute mark

Very rough guesses... as I have no real idea on the reverse layout LOL

I think the biggest factor is going to be the lack of practice in the reverse layout for most people. With 3 seriously un-sighted corners, a 100 mph + corner, and a 120 mph brake for the hairpin it going to be the brave that get the quick times. Certainly a new experience for me, so I would think it'll be be about 2 seconds slower than clockwise, so maybe a 59 sec. I think you're probably right that qualifying time will be the quickest, certainly the Caterham will struggle to get tyres up to temperature in the one lap final.

Well that's testing over and the car is still in one piece . An enjoyable afternoon getting the car scrutineered and doing a couple of sessions on track. The intention was just out to scrub the new tyres and get my eye in for the braking points. Still a lot to learn about the reverse layout but hope to break the sub minute tomorrow. Although the main straight is faster in reverse (as you exit Duffus faster), railway bend slows the back straight. I was also having traction issues up Duffus so I think it will be slower for the Caterham than the clockwise direction.
