Shed-tastic...

Post by Fluoxetine » Thu Sep 14, 2006 11:27 pm

Okay...I own up...

It was me that bought the fabled 'Shed'...After nearly three years of an Elise-free life, I've taken the plunge today and bought Robin's old trackday junker from him... :D

I had fond memories of the car after an ill fated SELOC trip (snowed off!) to the 'ring in 2004, where I drove it all the way from Edinburgh to Nurburg via Dover, hit 140 tuts along the autobahn, and slithered down the back roads to the stench of burning plastic from a melting bulkhead...

I'm not a GJW / polisher, so the prospect of buying a cosmetically tatty but mechanically sound car already fitted with a PTP 165 kit / Nitrons / pagids etc was a no brainer...

So looks like I'm finally back in the Elise fray, and can legitimately call myself a 'proper' SE'er once again...Roll on the 2007 track day season! :D :D

Cheers,

Ross.

Jolly good Ross, and welcome back.

Nothing like keeping it in the family. With Gareth now owning Robins Tango, not yet found out what Robin is doing.

Perchance taken the 135R?

Yup, fantastic bit of SE inter-car swapperoony. :D
Congrats, Rossini!

Just to clarify:
Robins Tango Badger (S2 Exige, Chrome Orange) goes to Gareth
Robins Shed (S1 Elise, mechanically excellent, but with 'cosmetic issues') goes to Rossini.
Gareths (nee Iain T's) 135R (build no 001) goes to Robin. :D

Yup, the Scottish Elises swop shop....
It was a tough decision and one I'm still not comfortable handing over #001 and probably one I will regret. Hopefully Robin will look after her, keep her polished and looking good although I'm not confident with his story or removing road crap with a brillo like pad

Coming off the Perth slip road to have the 135R in my mirrors and then pass me was a beautiful...tearful sight.

I guess you don't miss the water until the well runs dry....(my Gran taught me that :) )

I owned the Silver Shed at one point too (when it was completely standard)
I remember driving it back the day Robin bought it. Brakes rusted on and swimming pool in the boot... :)

That's when I used to wash cars - don't do that anymore :-).

Yeah, you were going too slow and the 135R needs some loosening - feels a bit tight at present :-)

Hey, I didn't miss the water on the way home - damn near spaded it several times before finally chickening out of 80+ tuts, outside lane, standing water ... pulled into inside lane and backed off to sub-light ... a little later a passat went past really slowly and just passed me as he hit a huge lake of water - not only did he slither about, but the bow wave was such that I was totally blind as I hit the same lake a fraction later ... eek.

Nelly, read your email - I got you a room by yourself already 'cos me and Kelvin are best friends and we don't like you, so there. BTW, the tiergarten came back with a reservation also, so the whole thing is now booked.

Cheers,
Robin

Well I had booked us both a nice cabin (you can be my friend while Kelvin isn't there ... just don't tell him!) but if you insist on sleeping on the deck I won't mind :-)

Cheers

I think we need to have a physchological analysis of WHY you chose an S2 and then we can move forward.

Anyway, when are you putting the honda in it??
