Return from the dark side

Hi,
I used to be an active member of the forum a few years ago when I had the VX220, but sold up and went to a rice burner for a bit.
Anyway I am now looking to return to the world of lotus again.
I am in the market to buy a Lotus Exige S (circa 2007).
Basically I was looking for some advice on what to look out for etc when viewing the cars.
I am not sure if Martin (lazydonkey) still posts here as he was kind enough to introduce me to the VX a good few years ago now.

Yes, Lazydonkey still posts on here (when he's not holidaying)... he even makes the occasional useful post - mostly about Sky TV offers though

Hello will! Welcome back! Have you had the evo all this time?

Hi all
I had the evo for three years and then had a MSport coupe for a while as I was doing lots of miles with my work for a bit.
I am going through to Murray today just for a look around one, although I think it is a bit on the expensive side.
I obviously know VX's well, but what should I be looking for with the Exige. Hopefully the wheels don't crack on them or is that just wishful thinking lol
Wil
Ps I used to have an account on here but it didn't recognise my email address so I had to start again.

Hi Wil, welcome back to the Forum, and good to see you buying an Exige. I do the Highland Hoon with the VX220 group each year so have got to know quite a few of them, and had some good runs and laughs.
Tell Brandon and Craig that you want a tut discount on the car, otherwise I will take them out again as a pax at KH.

Well just got back from Edinburgh and my visit to the garage. Sadly the Exige they are selling is having work done so I was unable to get out out.
However I did get to go out in a supercharged Elise. I have got to say I was smiling from eat to ear the entire test drive. I loved the pickup and the noise from that trd upgrade pack.
I test drove a GTR last week and as a complete contrast I got out the GTR and thought nice car but you didn't really drive it; it does it all for you and even the noise is kept out the cabin. Lovely car but a bit soleless.
Hmm I enjoyed that test drive way more than I ever expected
Edit: I completely forgot to say that Brandon was a really top guy with no pushy sales. If I end up buying privately I would totally trust the car to get serviced there. I really liked the feel of the place.

back
Newish to Lotus ownership and bought from MMC.Had a painless buying experience there, left £500 deposit with Craig and sealed the deal with Brandon the following weekend.Deposit was refundable if I changed my mind during the week and no hard sales talk or pushiness which was refreshing after main dealers.
Would/will use them for another Lotus if something turns up that hits the spot.

Just got a letter this week asking me to verify the mileage on a 2007 exige s (56) in graphite grey which I owned until 2010. Have tried looking online to see if it's for sale again anywhere through a dealer without succes so far. It'll probably have 35 to 40k on the clock by now ( I did 29k) Just thought I'd mention it if something similar were to come up in the near future and perhaps wanted me to identify it.
You never know, it may be helpful.
Good luck.

Fantastic I will keep an eye out for that one coming up.
Did anything fail on yours that I should look out for when buying?

The only failure I encountered in 29k was a leaking air con pipe which was quite common apparently. Probably because it never got used that often. The spec of mine was slightly odd in that it had manually operated windows. Apart from that it had the sport pack and a soft top conversion which I had done by a lotus dealer in Ostend (Belgium). It's the most reliable car I've ever owned. Originally purchased from Hexham Horseless Carriages with 1400 miles on the clock in february 2007. The car was first registered with the dealer in September 2006. It was sold to someone who only did a few thousand miles in it before it was sold again through a Stratstone dealer down south. This is the second mileage check letter I've had since selling it hence why I think it probably hasn't done much mileage since then.
Since having sold the Elise I bought after it, I would definitely consider one again some time in the future when my son gets little older..
If I happen to see it crop up, I'll let you know.

Fantastic thanks for completing the story on that one tut.
Thanks for heads up about the aircon. Does anyone know the service interval for the supercharged 2007 cars?
