Love the pic of Graham Hill airborne in the Type 49, my hero in my dream machine when I was a boy. ( Page 3......)

Still got a print of him in that car, it used to have pride of place on my bedroom wall.

Makes sense...I guess based on the new supercharged Elise S ClubRacer?

So Elise S Cup and Elise S Cup R? (the latter being a bit of an unfortunate acronym so guess thats why they dropped the S...)

I like the idea of that. It'll be interesting to see where it's priced.

I would reckon £50k- you pay £40k for an Elise S with a couple of packs added

Like your thinking Ali :thumbsup

Was it not mentioned that the Evora range was getting an addition not long ago?

I think Lotus should have made the roadster N/A with a soft top and called it an Elise and kept the Supercharger for the Exige with the hardtop.

Exige, V6, supercharger, splitter, wing, hardtop for the track.

Elise, V6, N/A, soft-top for the road.

Just my 2p.

Steve.

Plenty of Elise cup R chassis stacked up ready to go in the factory yesterday. Not sure when they'll be built, it was chocka with everything else they're doing. Exige Roadster looks just spot on in the flesh with the spoiler removed. Mind you, the exige cup R in Motorsport looked the business too, love the louvered bootlid and meshed rear, give it the visual menace to back up how the reviews say it drives. Roadster in club racer blue with the Cup R bootlid and black wheels for me, one day, maybe.

All this aside, well worth a visit, bumped into Martin Donelly twice, got a good look around on the unofficial G. Robertson tour and shared a few pints in England's oldest Pub night before.

This weekend, Lotus will unwrap the Elise S Cup R at the Autosport in Birmingham, UK. The carmaker's latest track toy comes with a 1.8-liter supercharged four pot and weighs in at just 924 kg. An unspecified power output is sent to 16/17 inch alloys via a six-speed manual, while the Elise S Cup R also boasts a sports-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes, a “triple-pass” radiator, and body upgrades such as an updated front splitter, rear diffuser, floor extensions and rear wing.

Over a 2.2-mile lap, the Cup R is said to be four seconds quicker than the regular Elise S. The cabin features a FIA-compliant roll cage, a HANS-compatible racing seat, quick-release steering wheel and an optional race-spec passenger seat with four-point harness. Priced at £39,125, the Lotus Elise S Cup R can be used at this year's Lotus Cup racing series.
