Very serious, I initially assumed the coma was induced to control intracranial pressure but it seems not and that he was in a comma by the time he arrived at the hospital. I was never Michael fan but this is terrible news and I hope he recovers quickly and fully.

Fighting for his life now, can not think of any one else that would make a better job of it.

Fingers crossed indeed - It's very much a waiting game when it comes to the outcome of a severe head injury.

If he ends up as expected, unable to dress, walk and feed himself then that's not a life....the family would be better off switching him off.

If it was your close family member/son/brother/husband could you make that decision?
I'd hope if it were me that they'd want to try everything possible and fight with me for a recovery.

Although it is a hard thing to do, the choice, in my mind, would be simple. Schumacher was a supreme athlete, would he want a life where he was unable to walk/ talk and required constant care ?

We have just gone through that with my mother-in-law although on a much reduced timescale.
Massive stroke Saturday, passed away (naturally) on the Monday evening but the scenario was that if she survived she would require 24/7 care. She had been active and independant until the stroke and would have hated a life of care with no independence, so the path we would have taken was obvious to us all, things naturally took their course but we were unanimous in the decision, should we have had to make it.
